This is the new blue dress vs. gold dress.

Who says "people of talent" though?

Boris.

He has actually said it a few times.

Mistake or not - this is what happens when your organisation has such political bias.

Terrible isn't it.

Now imagine being a left-leaning voter and seeing the front pages of pretty much every single newspaper in the country.

The video in the replies make it a lot clearer he says 'talent':

That is such an odd inflection though lol

Definitely sounds like talent to me. Imagine the same people outraged at people falling for Russian bot memes getting blindsided by a channel 4 tweet. Pure banter.

I think people are a bit more entitled to trust what they see from a national news source?

Like I say though, piss poor from C4. The standards of journalism during this campaign have often been absolutely dreadful. See also this...

Just parroting. I don't think she's biased, but I do think she's rubbish at her job.

Oh wow. People on both sides can't even say stuff on record now without it being misreported. Problem is, will all the people in hysterics that have just spread misinformation pull their tweets down? Of course they fvcking won't.

No doubt that it shouldn't have happened in the first place, but quite impressive how quickly Channel 4 took it down as opposed to say the edited video the Conservative Party tweeted, or some of the misinformation shared by the BBC.

This campaign really has been a giant dump on British Politics, for all sides. The fact that many were not overly surprised that it was said to be colour says a huge amount about the PM too, if that were Blair, May or even Cameron I doubt the assumption would even have been made.

'Senior Conservative Source'. Imagine it's initials are DC ('Disgusting Cvnt' also works in this case).

Shite as usual, Kuenssberg needs to stop playing the Tory spokeswoman and ignore this propagandist drivel. If they have something to say it should come from official Conservative channels.

Well, that is pure Frank Sinclair from C4. Whatever happened to vetting and due diligence?

The worst thing is that is now outstanding deflection material in pure Boy Who Cried Wolf fashion from here to the other side of the election.

It's utterly ridiculous.

I've seen tweets over the past weeks with blatant misinformation and outright lies with likes and retweets in the thousands, and the comment dispelling the myth has about 4 likes. On both sides, people just hear/see/read what they want to.

Happens in the states too, remember this picture being widely shared during the Presidential election. I mean, come on!!

"People of Colour" is now trending on Twitter. Looking through the tweets it just makes my blood boil. It's like the "Corbyn hasn't apologised" kind of thing. People are so blinded by their allegiances to two utter car crashes of political parties they can't even see what is being said or done in front of their noses. Depresses me it really does.

Not really sure what she is supposed to do here?

If she gets a quote from a source she has to report it accurately, rather than alter it or give her own opinion.

Boris is definitely a massive lying twat, but he didnt say colour and even if he is a massive donkey brained nonce, he isnt stupid enough to even consider saying that either.

Better video here from the BBC coverage - clearly says talent.

Did C4 alter the audio as well to try and make it sound worse?

lol Take off your tin foil hat, Matt.

Two different audio sources. The original video sounded like it was from a boom or camera mic attached to the ITN / C4 news crew.

That BBC clip uses a direct input from microphone Alexander is holding.

She's under no obligation to solely present the claim as quoted to her without challenging it.

As I say, it's not bias. I just think she's incompetent.

I don't understand his point; just because the Tories made the NHS doesn't mean they can't now want to cut it back. The politicians of '45 are probably mostly gone and replaced by the 'newer' politicians with potentially completely different morals.

Fair point, UniFox21, except that the Tories didn't "make the NHS" in any meaningful sense. They no more "literally founded our NHS" than Nigel Pearson "literally won the PL for LCFC".....and that's being generous to the Tories.

I'd say that Pearson deserves a lot more credit for our title triumph than the Tories do for the foundation of the NHS! And Pearson didn't actively oppose Ranieri's plans to build on his contribution! lol

Quite right, though that current politicians (on all sides) should be judged on their record & their plans, not what their party did or didn't do 70+ years ago.

Here is an honest, concise history of the founding of the NHS (as opposed to the slanted propaganda posted by @Jon the Hat): https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/home-affairs/the-most-civilised-thing-in-the-world-the-political-foundations-of-the-nhs/

In short:

- 1909: Fabian/Socialist Beatrice Webb often credited with the original idea, which was discussed for decades thereafter

- 1942: The Liberal, William Beveridge, produced his massively influential and popular "Beveridge Report", the cornerstone of the welfare state and NHS

- 1943-44: The wartime coalition govt acted on public pressure supporting the Beveridge Report, with the National Liberal Health Minister Brown & Tory Health Minister Willink (Jon's post) drafting proposals and launching negotiations.

- 1945: By the end of WW2, there was a cross-party consensus for a universal healthcare service, but disagreements about important detail

- 1946: Having won the 1945 election, the Labour Govt legislated for the NHS. Although the Tories supported a universal healthcare system, they opposed Labour's NHS Act at 2nd & 3rd reading as they disagreed with some of their plans....but Labour had a majority so the NHS Act passed & was implemented in 1948

Matt you still maintaining not voting for Tory if BoJo doesnt do the Neil interview?

Yep. But I'll struggle, I just can't see myself not doing it.

If JC becomes PM and I did nothing I wouldn't be able to look in the mirror.

A lot will depend on the pre-election polling tbh.

What's going on here then... obviously it's a council election, but this seems completely the opposite to what the polls are telling us. Apparently a really strong leave area as well.
