Derby in Financial meltdown

I've little respect for them anyway but if Derby fans bottle doing anything notable tomorrow then they deserve to lose their club.

Its hard to kick them when their down, but they really need to do, as a minimum, what they did before the Birmingham game. This has completely fallen out of the attention of the national media and they're going out with a limp.

F**king do something (legal) Derby fans!

Not sure if the main board is the place for this

but given the sheep shaggers are an odious bunch I thought we could all enjoy the new year knowing they are stuffed

once again proof we need to expand our stadium because we are becoming the only team worth following in the East Midlands !

Sun reporting they're about to name a preferred bidder to finally take them over and out of admin. Guy submitting the bid is offering less than the minimum required to avoid further points deductions this season apparently.

Guess given how bleak it is, new owner, no points off next season and being in League One is as good as could be hoped for really. Granted they'd prefer to be in the Championship, but desperate times and all that.

Look at the replies to that Tweet. Derby fans already hitching the Kirchner train and drinking his kool-aid. Not sure if it's just sheer desperation, but the way they're dismissing this story and saying it's nonsense is staggering. They don't know him from Adam and yet he's the messiah they should defend at all costs.

Desperation is key here, I think. Understandable and I think much of our fanbase was similar when Mandaric was snooping around.

Derby County 'could ground share at Stoke City' to complete takeover deal
Stoke City news: Relegated Derby County remain in administration and crisis

Derby County could look to ground share at Stoke City or Leicester to navigate 'the biggest hurdle' in a proposed takeover.

American businessman Chris Kirchner wants to buy relegated Derby - but his exclusivity period with administrators Quantuma ends on Saturday. The deal has been complicated by former owner Mel Morris, who put the business into administration in September, separating Pride Park Stadium from the club in 2018.

He admitted in an interview last night: "It is just the way the entities under the previous owner were tied together. The stadium and the rights to that stadium are intertwined for a lot of those. Without getting too detailed or too complex, and obviously to have a club and to have a deal officially approved by the EFL you have to have a lease or own a ground.

"You have to have somewhere to play and so for all those reasons it's tied in. Because it is not part of the administration it has added a layer of complexity in trying to get this deal done because of the different parties that have to make decisions on it."

Alan Nixon claims that the possibility of playing elsewhere is being explored - and Derby could become tenants at either the bet365 Stadium or in Leicester.

It is 40 miles and 47 minutes down the A50 from Pride Park to Stoke or 42 minutes and 33 miles east across the Midlands to the King Power Stadium. Stoke actually sold their ground last year to their owners, bet365. Renovations are planned this summer, including upgrading more than 8,000 seats in the main stand.

The EFL issued an update on the Derby saga yesterday with Kirchner in England to try to get the bid over the line.

A statement said: "The EFL Board has today been advised that a deal to take Derby County out of administration and under the ownership of Mr Chris Kirchner is nearing completion. Evidence of source and sufficiency of funding has now been provided but there still remain a number of outstanding challenges to be resolved.

"As a result, the Board has instructed the Executive to continue its discussions with Mr Kirchner and his representatives in regard to finalising the terms of a Membership agreement. However, a significant issue remains in respect of the status of the stadium and Mr Kirchner continues in dialogue with the relevant parties as to how this can be resolved. It is clear that the complexity associated with this aspect of the transaction is the biggest hurdle to overcome.

"The EFL acknowledges the current time pressures relating to Mr Kirchner’s position as preferred bidder and will seek to conclude matters as soon as possible in line with requirements as set out in the League’s Insolvency Policy. The League will be making no further comment at this time."

Oh dear.  Hardly a shock though given this happened with this bloke at Preston too.  Derby are behaving like desperate old spinsters.  2nd time this has happened where they just ignore the form of bidders (the Mansour cousin who ghosted Newcastle(?) springs to mind).

Either way, not looking too rosy for them.

This is getting a bit ridiculous. I think they need to go down to League One, maybe even League Two, get sold off and start again.

It's rubbish for their fans and I feel for them but that is preferable to them suffering the same fate as Bury, Macclesfield, Hereford, etc.

It’s the third one actually!

There was a Spanish takeover that fell through too last year. Erik Alonso same guy that Sheffield Wednesday turned down

This was obviously going to happen, the bloke is a complete cowboy.

Derby deserve the punishment they get now as they have just been stringing this out for way too long.

These deals often fail when it gets to the show me the money stage. Perhaps that should be happening at an earlier point to save wasting months and months of raising hopes.

Just had a quick look at the Derby forum and most of them still have their poor tongues lodged up CK's behind. Giving all the excuses, benefit of doubt and saying it'll happen with blind loyalty, dismissing anything negative.

Amazing how people can be so blind when they're desperate.

Also still entirely the EFL's fault too if my Derby supporting friends are to be believed.
