Derby in Financial meltdown

The cynic in me says it echos the previous Bury owner a little too closely. Suppose we'll find out how much of a fan he really is

The Bury owner had a long history of companies going bust. He was a director of 51 and 43 went into liquidation.

David Clowes has continued his family company since 1964. They own multiple property developments across the country. Turnover £83 million and have assets worth £300 million.

Simply nothing like the Bury owner

Bit of weird one to wait, what's changed? Can't see who they attract. Is Curtis Davies still there? Probably end up in charge of the team..

He will be held to account now more. The reality is Rooney has had to manage Derby in a fashion which isn’t really suitable for a professional club on a long term.

I think there’s enough in it for a developer to make a lot of cash and also run a club well, especially as a fan.

if they can revive their fortunes, It’s not inconceivable Clowes buy it for pennies now and in 5 years could have a premier league team to sell along with some redeveloped land worth a hell of a lot more than it is now!

Nowhere near wealthy enough in modern terms

No but he will steady them up, get them back to the Championship. Be a far better investment then for someone who can splash the dollar.

He’s no charlatan like the American tyre kicker whose company haven’t paid staff for a month and the plane he claimed he bought is now up for sale.

Clowes probably isn't rich enough to get them to the Premier League, true enough.

He should be able to steady the ship, get them running like a business and establish them as a decent Championship club though. They can then be sold to someone who can take them to that next level - much like Mandaric did with us.

Meanwhile the administrators, Quantuma, have skimmed off millions for ... what?

Picking a bidder anyone with access to Google could have figured out was a chancer without the necessary assets?

Extending the process until the patient was near death while their billable hours piled up?

Exactly what value did they add?

Totally. Preston dismissed him when he wanted to buy them.

Like I said, we'll find out how much of a fan he is or if he's in it for the land

Rooney getting out before serious expectation is placed on him. They'll be expecting a strong promotion push next season when they are taken over and can put a squad together.

That would be an unrealistic expectation though. They have to assemble a squad pretty much from scratch. Their season starts at the end of next month! If they finish mid-table, that would be a decent season for them.

Glad it's settled and they're still afloat. Must be a relief for them to moving away from these rancid few months.

I had a fantastic time down in L1 and hope they enjoy it too (obviously hoping they don't come up!).

Still, bloody Zamora eh?
