Derby in Financial meltdown

Recommended Posts

possibly end up with some kind of phoenix club similar to what happened to Rangers?

it would be an easy way for someone to acquire a load of assets and start again.... would probably take them less time to get back to league one with a clean slate, than it would to right the ship and find a way out of the mess with a load of caveats applied.

It's genuinely a crying shame if they go to the wall and disappear.

The EFL has no plans to expel Derby County from the Football League despite the club’s administrators missing Monday’s deadline for a preferred bidder to provide proof of funds, it has been claimed.

Providing an update on the current state of off-field play at Pride Park, Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has some encouraging news amid the increasingly worrying and protracted process of finding a new owner for the football club.

But, despite having funds to cover Rams player wages for a “few weeks,” he says the money will soon start drying up.

Dorsett Tweeted today: “EFL has no plans to expel #dcfc from League despite administrators missing yesterday’s deadline to prove funding.

“Admins are still assessing bids, not said anything for 10 days.

“I’ve been told Derby have cash for player wages and club expenses for a few weeks, but not beyond that.”

The club’s administrators are due to meet a working group of concerned business leaders today in a bid to shed more light on the on-going takeover of the club.

The group, Team Derby, was due to meet with Quantuma today to get an update and assurances for Rams fans amid the current plight of the club.

The English Football League yesterday asked the administrators for an “urgent further update” on proof of funds and the status of appointing a preferred bidder.

Neither of these have been provided, the EFL have stated, despite a four-week extension being granted at the end of January specifically for the “provision of evidence of sufficient funding to complete the current season.”

An announcement on who the preferred bidder would be was pointed to late last week, but there was eventually no update forthcoming.

Now Derby businessman John Forkin MBE has shared an update on Twitter.

He said: “I share concerns with this painful and opaque process.

“We are all outside peering in, seeking clues. Can only hope PB endgame is getting close as deadlines remerge.

“Team Derby is meeting Quantuma tomorrow seeking basic info & assurances. We will issue a statement afterwards.”

First sign from Rooney of sour grapes in the whole situation?

Frustrated they lost a key game adding to the last 2 games...

I mean know all managers complain they are hard done ny.

Not sure Rooney can really talk about respect and officials - like most he wasn't exactly one to show it as a player.

They did look a bit defeated after that game so guessing this might be a tactic to get some fight back into them. The last few results have killed the momentum they had with those few last minute winners.

The majority of the media are desperate for them to stay up. We've even got some on here hoping they do.

Chatting shit.

Ridiculous

Derby - We only have funds to the end of the month

Efl - show us proof of funds to end of the season

Erm

It's total mess, they have been given extra time and balls it up. It's gone from an almost takeover from Ashley to nothing. I'm somehow don't think the EFL will take anymore delays.

Think Rooney has had enough now, he agreed to stay I think after being told the takeover was 99% done. But as we've since seen it's fell through. Rooney must now be regretting not taking the Everton job.

Anyone else bothered by the picture they have used for the article, which is clearly not Pride Park?

No because the bottom picture is the Baseball Ground.
