Players that don’t quite fit in....

So I was playing a quiz on sporcle yesterday, about starting 11’s for certain teams.

real Madrid had Thomas gravesen playing amongst their team of galacticos containing ronaldo,Beckham, Ramos, Casillas, zidane, Guti & roberto Carlos to name but a few.

can anyone think of any other starting 11’s with players that don’t seem to fit in?

Funnily enough I was watching the Arsenal v Spurs 4-4 draw and although the spurs team wasn't exactly full of superstars I was surprised to see Chris Gunter playing for them. Never remembered him being there

Junior Lewis.

You could argue he did fit in with Peter Taylor's garbage Leicester City.

-------

Varying degrees of success but always found it pretty good that Bolton had Anelka, Djorkaeff, Nakata, Okocha and Hierro rock up at different points. Juninho and Ravenelli at Boro are ones that stick out, Mendieta / Reiziger later on to a lesser extent.

Mancini amongst our very workmanlike squad is along those lines

A couple of goal-keepers spring to mind...

Ross Turnbull signed for Chelsea if I remember correctly. Rob Green more recently also.

Richard Wright for Man City?!

Lee Grant at Man Utd.

Aside from GKs, Gary Taylor Fletcher in midfield in one of the first games of the 14/15 season against Chelsea lol

I still can't get me head around Serge Gnabry being one of Bayern Munich's star players.

This is a guy that just a few years ago was binned off by West Brom.

Sol Campbell at Notts.

Could probably add Kasper Schmeichel to that as well, even though he was a fairly young keeper at the time.

That Villa team that went down in 15/16 wasn't that bad, shooting yourself in the foot by having Tactics Tim in charge.

We had no right having Muzzy Izzet in the Championship in 2002/03. Miles better than anyone in the league.

Most assists in the Premier League the season after IIRC, during Arsenal's invincible year.

Rio Ferdinand at QPR was an odd one. Should have just retired or gone abroad instead of doing himself dirty like that.

Jose Bosingwa and a couple others there were weird too.

Yeah those were all about greed / money really, they knew they were past their peak and they couldnt give a shit if they were flops at those clubs or not.
