At no stage have I said it’s impossible to enjoy the summer,  you asked multiple times for me to post a source where people were recommending social distancing forever.

Neither am I, enjoy your weekend

Post I’m referring to was someone else.

I asked once. And it’s not come from anyone in charge as it’s NOT what they want to happen.

But, frankly people are a bit stupid if they think our way of life is somehow guaranteed. News flash, it’s not we are exceptionally privileged in this country compared to most.

If something more deadly comes along in six months, six years or sixty years. Our way of life might need to adapt and people need to get their head around that.

So what you are saying is that at this point in time there is nothing deadly that needs to see us so this for much longer?

Edit- when I say nothing deadly, I know this is for some I’m not a Covid denier and have great sympathy for anyone who has been affected.

Not for much longer no, I've never said otherwise. Delta stuff could do with more information on as it's only a small sample so far, but the vaccinations seem to be holding up against it.

If something else appears or delta gets worse than the small samples we're looking at, then expect a backwards step or two.

Vaccinations are no guarantee, so some mild forms of caution like masks on public transport could end up sticking around if variations keep popping up and causing setbacks all the time. Certain things like that could potentially become mainstream.

Bang on the money for me. There’s this assumption that us mere humans can second guess a virus. It’s highly unlikely to happen (I hope) but what if the virus mutates and started to put the under 30s in hospital, with a high rate of mortality? It’s not my area of expertise, so I’ll leave that to the people that know what they’re on about. My point is similar to yours though - we assume we have a right to what we perceive to be normal life, but the reality is we have very little control over what mother nature throws at us.

Or what the Chinese government throws at us.

Big demo planned for June 21st as well as June 26th. Organisers not sure if numbers will be high for the first one as it's a weekday but I can see people booking the day off as we speak.

I’ve never been on a demo in my life. Never even thought about going. Yet I feel I might be going on one very soon.

Hospital does not just mean hospital, most 'hospitals' you are talking about will be outpatient and day surgery etc. There are only 132 hospitals in the UK with a proper a&e, which would mean that's about the number that could care for a patient sick enough with covid that they need admitting (either to a respiratory ward or critical care).

You really need to try and just accept that the unlocking is being delayed. It is going to happen.

Hospitals could also include community hospitals which look after the frail elderly. Mental health hospitals which clearly have their own cohort of patients.

However, in Leicestershire we have the Glenfield General which is a specialist respiratory hospital and they're set up to accept a number of ?CV+ patients without them attending the LRI A&E. I Imagine there must be other such specialist hospitals around the country. Not every ?CV+ pt goes via A&E, in my experience.

I threaten to go every time then my missus gives me that look and says 'go if you want it's up to you' . Then we argue and obviously she wins haha

All because of this new variant, that they encouraged to come over here en masse by not stopping flights from India.

Absolute shambles.

Can't quite agree about the 'encouraged en-masse' angle. However the fact that was a high level meeting between BJ and the President of India at the time the Delta variant was looming speaks volumes about why there was no travel ban on India despite Pakistan being on the red list. Politics taking priority over public health. Dispicable.

That's it I've had enough.

My mask is off come June 21st.

And if they ever tell me I'm 'not allowed' to see my family ever again they can stick their head up their arse.

How about if you want to go for a drink in a pub... the shop for a can of coke... ?

OK, see your family without a mask, that's your choice but you will still need a mask on public transport/shops. Not much to ask, is it really.

And if you really believe they're going to give you your freedoms back on July 19th then you're deluded I'm sorry to say.

I'm not deluded and I don't like being patronised by the Gov. However I do believe that a cautious approach is the right way to go. If it's safe then go ahead. if there's a risk, be cautious.

I hate this situation and I've worked in it and was awful. I still come dome down on the side of caution as frustrating as it is for myself and so many others, particularly those of your age. I do sympathise.

Why can’t you see your family Harry ??

what else do you want to do in late June and July that you won’t be allowed to if they move the 21st back a month ?

I just hope they compensate the businesses fully for their loss of earnings from this. This is totally on the Government allowing people freely back into the country from abroad during a time where we could barely leave our own road for exercise.
