Feels that for all the incompetence that has come before it, we've somehow timed our latest wave absolutely perfectly. We're on a steep decline with hundreds of thousands of boosters going in arms every day, with no restrictions.

Lots of European countries are on the way back up heading into the winter months with little to no booster program being rolled out. Even places like Ireland with a strict mask mandate that is widely complied with now has a much higher case rate per capita than us.

I think our death rate will always be a little higher than average due to our aging, fat, inactive population but that's another issue entirely. Hopefully the new pill can control the deaths to an extent now.

I hate to be basic as fcuk.

The last two weeks of cases simply follow the pattern of a week behind the half-terms of the schools. Particularly given the amount of testing associated with schools and the cases rates in children.

We are going to bob along at this rate for a little while. I personally think the cases levels have coped well considering the lack of restrictions and the huge amount of testing we do. However, people very rarely place the data in the context.

Booked my booster this morning for early next month. Could get the Wednesday and Friday near work on around the dates it was actually due, i'm off both days (in on the Thursday but nowhere seems to be doing it on the Thursday ) so ended up getting the earliest one nearer home at Loughborough Hospital about 10 days later.

There's a campaign for people to open their windows over christmass. Fvck that.

This is the advice we've been given at work, 6 blokes sat in a room doing shifts overnight (after completing our work, so sat covering faults etc.), not gonna happen when it's minus 3 outside in December/January and 3am is it lol

Maybe if they’d campaigned for lower heating bills they might stand a chance.

My MIL is booked to come over to the States for a visit and has got one of the 70 quid tests delivered to her house. It’s the exact same as the free tests they’re giving out to school kids. She’s sent me a picture with it next to the other lol

And people think this is to do with public health.

You lol but someone out there is quids in off the back of a tool for detecting a virus which is known to be substandard in detecting it.

Anyone else suffered extreme fatigue after having covid? Been out of isolation a few days but just want to sleep all of the time.

Feel on the verge of closing my eyes all of the time and been told I look like shit by two different people today 😆

You will do, your body has taken a bit of battering as it would with flu. It will get better soon though (assuming you've been vaccinated?).

I wonder what the percentage of people are that get a PCR test done when they have COVID?

Be interesting to know as there are currently around 30,000 cases a day, but there must be a good 20% above that, that go unregistered.

Having an idea what the unregistered cases are would then mean we get a better handle on what the percentage death rate really is.

Both my son and I didn’t bother with the PCR’s. We knew we were positive from symptoms and the lateral flow tests, so just locked ourselves indoors until it passed over and so went unregistered.

Anyone else go under the radar with COVID?

I have no idea if Twain did say this but I love it !

of course it’s apr to the entirety of FT, not just this thread. The beautiful thing about it is that everyone can relate to it because no one realises that on occasions, it’s actually relevant to them!!

It’s why I autoblock any retard on Twitter, Facebook, and any other net outlet and forum. No response, no argument, just fukwitblock.

Don’t believe in Covid? Block. Think a billionaire is trying to chip and track you? Block. Face nappies are a scam designed by something to something in your something? Cokoff to block.

Life is so much easier as a result.

I would guess that your selfish attitude has been replicated by many others.

It’s  a v common symptom.  My missus had fatigue which came and went for at least a year after first contracting it.  I don’t think people realise the risk they run of ‘long covid’ affects.  the assumption is that being vaccinated will reduce this but any evidence of this is bound to be sketchy for the time being.

On a scale of covid selfishness, this ranks pretty low.  If you know you’ve got it and how you got it and let anyone you’ve been in close contact know that you’ve got it then isolating for ten days without taking a PCR isn’t that unreasonable ??

Surely it's anything but selfish?

If someone knows they have it and self-isolate, that is better than going to a test centre and potentially infecting more people on your way or while there. Weird comment to make unless there is some sort of sarcasm in there...

If we all followed the rules that are in place then who knows we might be in a better position regarding Covid in the UK? Just a thought.

Although as @Rob1742 says, the people making the rules are breaking them themselves.

Your house probably isn't a poorly insulated building that was built in the 70s, my finger nails are thicker than the glass window lol Honestly it's genuinely freezing when theres one window open in winter, even with the heating on.

Great. Looks like I'm losing my job. Mandatory jabs for NHS workers. What is the world coming to? Really hope it only applies to the clinicians.

Quote from Javid:

"There will be exemptions for the Covid vaccine requirement for medical reasons, and for those who do not have face-to-face contact with patients in their work, he added."

So if that applies to you, you might be OK. Otherwise you would be faced with either being vaccinated or looking for a new job by the sounds.

Hasn't this been put back till April at the earliest?

Yeah April, but I'd imagine the process of really pressing people in the NHS who aren't vaccinated to get it will start now.

Leave it as long as you can if you really don't want it. You never know by April it may be pushed back again.

This Government is well known for making big statements then backing down soon after, they'll probably be shown figures on how unworkable it is then bring in loads of caveats and get outs.
