Signings like Clark, Lallana, Vestergaard (though I hate this last one) aren't glamorous, but are necessary for when we hit Christmas / fixture congestion pile-up. If Fuchs goes we need a decent stand-in, and with Ricardo out injured you can't have JJ alone covering for both sides.

Is he actually any good there? He's definitely more of a central defender and the ideal LCB in a 3-4-1-2 but for picking up a player to cover left back he'd be more than adequate. I'd like us to get him for central defence anyway, his lack of height the only potential concern. Ability wise he seemed destined to be top class when he came through a year or two ago.

The signings we have been linked with would indicate that 3 at the back is a possibility. I hope he does stay.
