Chippies

What's everyone's favourite in the Leicester area?

For fish and chips - Nicks in Ashby. Fantastic batter on the fish and excellent chips. Soft and tasty without being limpid.

For kebab and chips - Vinnies in Ibstock. Exceptional kebabs. Loads in them. Fresh salad, too.

Yeah I second Nicks although only have it about twice a year.

Cosby is decent for fish and chips. I’m still searching for a decent kebab joint round here though.

I used to live within sniffing distance of Cosby chip shop.  Is it still decent since changing hands?  I know the new owner worked alongside the previous owners (miserable fvckers) so that things wouldn't change too much.

How far is Cosby from Ibstock? Honestly game changing is Vinnies.

tbf I’m not in Cosby now but I always travel back for chips and Tythe barn takeaway.

I’m in New Lubbesthorpe, so probably 20 mins from Ibstock.

I’ll give it a bash.

Yeah, my dad lived on Broughton road for years, so I remember it before. I can’t tell the difference in quality at all.

If I hadn’t of known it had changed, then I would have been oblivious.

You'll have to have them in the car. Nowt worse than a cold kebab and chips unless it's the morning after.

Moved to Stratford-upon-Avon last year and yet to properly sample any of the chippies in town. Walked past a few that looked like the Grimsby chippy standard, with eat-in options.

If anyone knows of any this way that are worth trying, let me know!

So long as they’re paper wrapped I can pop them in the electric cooler/heater that I have for such occasions.

One near to the theatre that faces the river. Great snap in there. Good battered sausage
