Then the opposition also gets to make an extra sub at the same time if they've used all their three. That would stop 99% of anybody going down deliberately holding their head.

Aus Fox Posted 6 February 2021 Posted 6 February 2021 Concussion subs should be temporary substitutes for anyone with a head bump, so they can have a proper concussion test - to be done properly these take a lot longer than a minute or two on the sidelines. If the player is concussed then they stay off, if not they return to the field. This would also stop clowns going down clutching their face every time someone gets within an mm of their head. 3

If a player goes down with a head injury they have to get a proper 5-10 minute long assessment in the changing rooms, and in the meantime you can make a concussion sub until you determine if the injured player is okay or not. If he is, he can be subbed back on.

It's so simple and sensible but football doesn't seem to deal in common sense when it comes to law making unfortunately they just over complicate thing. I would love for refs to be able to be heard like in NFL as well. I feel like it would make such a difference to understand why and how referees come to decisions rather than just the silence we get. 5

The bottom line is they shouldn't even be in the league this season. Nothing can be done about that and it is what it is but I can't believe how often that gets overlooked and so little fuss was made about it even at the time, if it had an impact on the top of the table they'd still be talking about it now.
