2020/21 Under 23's, U19's, Development ... thread

Full Time: Leicester (Shade 58') 1-1 Chelsea (McEachran 45')

Poor first half, looked much better in the 2nd half until the red card for Reghba in the 75th minute and from then it was just 20 minutes of defending

Have to say Oli Ewing looked good tonight, kept Billy Gilmour pretty quiet 2nd half

2 players taken off injured: Harvey Godsmark-Ford (Concussion) and Terell Pennant (Back)

We should have built a hospital rather than a new training facility.

Bubbles?

The new training ground is fully set up for that, the academy and the 1st team are completely separate and it's all geared up for the academy to be able to view the 1st team but be apart as an aspiration tool.

I can only assume they are being extra cautious if they're staying at Belvoir Drive for now.

Perhaps they've kicked them back there because of the U23's misdemeanour the other week?

Weren't they already training there when the misdemeanour happened? Would make sense how they arranged it all by getting to know each other.

Barradell Previews 'Exciting' FA Youth Cup Clash

Leicester City Under-18s coach Adam Barradell says the squad are excited by the opportunity of competing in the FA Youth Cup, ahead of their third round tie with Sheffield Wednesday Under-18s.

Several Under-18s players have made the step up into the Under-23s squad for the first time in recent weeks, including the likes of Chituru Odunze, Oli Ewing and Sammy Braybrooke, with Barradell pleased to see their development as young players.

He added: "Having players move into the Under-23s group, it's great for their development and we've seen the benefits of that when they come back down to play with the Under-18s.

"On the flip side, it's certainly given Under-16s the opportunity to come and play in the Under-18s, which is again great for their individual development.

"That's what we're looking for really, players moving into the Under-23s squad and Under-16s moving into the Under-18s and still looking to compete and put in good performances."

“The dream of many” – Player describes Leicester interest as ‘very important achievement’ for him

Puebla youngster Emilio Tare has shared his delight at recently being chosen for a trial with Leicester City.

The Mexican youngster is one of the hot properties in his home country, having enjoyed success with his country’s under 17 set up.

This has seemingly earned him attention in Europe and in particular from Leicester, who Record say ‘follow in his footsteps’.

That interest recently prompted them to bring the youngster to England for a trial at the club, something that the youngster, who has dual nationality with Mexico and Spain.

And he has spoken about that in a conversation with the club’s official media, relayed by Record.

“To be followed by a European team is a very important achievement,” he said.

“It is the dream of many. Football in England is very physical, and I think I can be that player who goes to the clash and wins, the one who competes.

“That’s where Leicester’s interest came from to come and try me out”.

It now remains to be seen if Tare did enough during his short stint with the Foxes to warrant them pushing for a permanent move in future.

Given the new rules after Brexit, any deal is likely to be a difficult one, but the club wouldn’t have gone forward with the hassle of arranging a trial if they didn’t see something in him.

If Tare can continue to make a name for himself at youth level, perhaps this won’t be the last time we see him and Leicester linked.

I imagine he'll have a nice enjoyable year in Leuven on his way from Mexico to England.

Apparently, Rodgers doesn't want Beaglehole anywhere near the first team squad but couldn't think of a polite way of telling him...! :D

Called back some of the U23's for it. Fitzhugh and Madivadua had been training with the 1st team, as had Terell Pennant.
