Lots been said about Chilwell being sold to a rival, but are they? 

 

I would love to be a rival to Chelsea but they  are really light years away from us and pulling away. 

 

About 10 or 11 FA Cup semi finals in the last 20 years, league cups, EPL titles, Champions League winners  and making serious progress each time and going toe to toe with one of the greatest Barcelona teams of all time,amongst some great other clubs. 

 

There are other achievements as well. 

 

Love what we've achieved in recent times but, taking away the incredible wages they pay, can anyone really say that Ben hasn't hasn't made a good decision, providing he's up to it and, even if he isn't, he's financially sorted himself for life. 

 

Just my opinion

Just taking last season on it's own our rivals would be the likes of wolves, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs. I think the point being made is by selling Chilwell we have strengthened a team that we finished close to last season which is a fair point to consider.

Rivalry with Chelsea .would likely refer to current status rather than historical. No one can really argue with their greater profile.

 

I dare say they haven't looked forward to playing us since 2015.

I think the way Chelsea have set up for the season, we would be very lucky to be rivals.

 

I think they will do very well this season however I am a bit worried about us given our lack of squad depth and quality.

 

We are more than capable of beating them on the day but I think overall there will be a comfortable gap between them and us.

if you’d have asked me last season i would have said yes but they have made some quality additions and we havnt. yet. Hard to see them as rivals now.

Unless they play us in a cup tie.

 

I think I read recently that we've never beaten them in a major cup match in our entire history. :(

Still don't see Chelsea as a big club, despite their undoubted success since Abramovich came along. Probably because when i started following football in the 80s they were regularly outside the top flight and getting crowds below 10k in a crumbling stadium. All that said, their riches now make it hard for us to compete with them.

The top six are still the top 6 IMO. For that to break takes one of them to have an off season, or for the likes of us/Wolves/Everton to have a somewhat freak of a season. Chelsea have probably cemented their top 4 place with their signings, Man Utd seem a bit streaky but have a lot of quality. Spurs should continue to become stronger with Mourinho at the helm and Arsenal, despite the media being OTT in the praise of the work Arteta has done, do seem to be improving and the two cup wins will have done them a lot of good.

 

Will be interested to see what Ancelotti can do for similar reasons as Mourinho at Spurs, and more interestingly what Wolves can do with no European football. I'd be pretty chuffed with a top half finish tbh

Chelsea were a rival last year but we failed to take advantage of that despite them being as weak as they've been in my memory bar one disaster season in 2015/16. In reality they're streets ahead of us. It's what makes missing out last year so annoying.

9/10 in the quiz.

 

Didn't get the James Constable-Don Rogers one.....still not sure I've got it, even after Googling the players (won't say what I found out to avoid ruining the excitement for others :D).
