Max Rushden is great. Can’t believe how many people seem to hate him.

I really like him as well, his podcast with David O'Doherty is brilliant. Even accounting for differing tastes, he's so inoffensive and I've never been entirely sure what it is about him that winds people up.

I’ve just started listening to that. Really like David too, had no idea they knew eachother!

I can see now why we have BBC Verify service. It's a great pity it wasn't in operation before taking on Gerry Adams.

Still, we licence fee payers will pick up the tab again.

How twisted was Pokemon when you think about it? Capturing animals and making them fight eachother.

They seemed to enjoy it.

I keep getting ads for DS/gameboy emulators that are about £40 and have hundreds of games on - I never played gold/silver (or the remakes), tempted to buy one.

I'm not allowed to talk about Israel/Palestine in detail (banned from general news thread) but anyone defending the Israeli government and IDF or saying that you can't trust the news sources, it's both sides etc. needs a head check.

I've been in contact with someone working currently in the West Bank and Gaza and believe me, It's all true and much, much worse than we're hearing.

Meanwhile, the world sits by and watches (apart from the US/Trump who are complicit)

Jokes about serial killers IE Harold Shipman and Fred West are not, nor have ever been funny.

I’m so glad I’m banned from the general news thread because if not already, I would most certainly be banned today.
Disgusting person.

In case anyone is unsure, there is little “collateral” damage in Gaza with the modern weapon systems being used by the IDF.
Everything happening to civilians and the infrastructure is highly organised, targeted and deliberate, under orders from the Israeli government.

The world knows this yet still allows it to continue under the guise of Israel's "right to defend itself".

Abhorrent, unjustified and criminal.

If you don’t already, consider donating blood, it’s easy, quick and incredibly important to those needing surgery/transfusions.

In addition to the possibility that you've saved someones life, you also get free biscuits 😋  it's a very worthwhile hour of your time.

Indeed.

You may have seen this in the news today and yes, please consider donating if you possibly can.

After many years of donating, I had to stop because of medication I had been prescribed. There's a chance I'll no longer need some of this med following an operation and if that's the case :fc: one of the first things I'll do is see if I can restart my donations.

If you have no such barriers please do consider donating.

As I've said before, the most uncomfortable part is taking the plaster off your arm a few hours later.

Yeh man, coming from me who hates needles and has had every vaccination under the sun due to travel, blood donation is a walk in the park, barely feel a thing. I'm on about 15 now.

Loads of free snacks after, but most importantly I am secure in the knowledge that should I or my family ever need blood, I have done my part to earn it.

The Leicester centre is brilliant - Leicester Blood Donor Centre - NHS Blood Donation

I was just about to post that link.

I'm even more annoyed now that I had to cancel my recent appointment. I was just going through the pre donation checklist and my holiday destination was a 'wait 4 months' not the 4 weeks I'd anticipated. Have to wait to August now and, I'm on my milestone 50th 😊

The blood transfusion service has just emailed a thank you mailing, with an illustration of the work they do.

Ive done it in a while.

Over an hours queue on the website and often its more than 6 weeks until the next available appointment.

I was 5 minutes late for an appointment once and was turned away.

I do wonder if the organisation of it all is part of the issue.

For sometime before I couldn't continue, you would receive a notification as to which hospital your donation had gone to. I always appreciated that info, non moreso than when it had gone to a children's hospital. Gosh, it made me feel good.

Yes, you still get a text or email to advise where your donation has gone. It is a good feeling. Equally, I know how grateful you feel when it's a family member that is a recipient.

Was overdue to book and this gave me the nudge to get it slotted in. 37 minute wait time on the website! The campaign is obviously effective.

I'd love to give blood but I've got familial hypercholesterolemia so I'm not allowed.

I'm also not allowed to be a pilot with this condition apparently.

It’s weird that 9/11 and Madeline McCann jokes are so widespread now.

Yet things like Hillsborough are treated with a lot more reverence.
