In a time when there's so much inhumanity we hear about, it's good to have some examples of humans actually showing they can be better.

Definitely emotional.

Watching DIY SOS and then watching Long Lost Families back to back was a thing on the TV schedule a little while ago.

So you can fly the palestine flag and ukraine flags when atrocities  happen but if you post the star of david as a profile pic it gets removed and you get a ban ( probably deserved actually so sorry to the mods!) because @Samilktray didnt like it and it offended them?

It didn’t offend me in the slightest, it just made you look like a baby

Care to explain why though?

Just a simple explanation rather than just saying " it makes you look like a baby"

I will move on and no problem with you but just for my own learning why do you think its not okay for someone to post the star of david as a profile pic after 2 Jews got killed in an unprovoked attack in our own country and you "called me out about it"?

Surely its the same solidarity for them as with people posting Ukraine flags in an unprovoked attack by Russia?

Would you have "called me out"if I was Jewish and posted that?

Again, it's just so I know for future 👍🏾

I think FT is a great site and moderated quite well and it isn't a responsibility I would wish for.

There are, inevitably, inconsistencies with this moderation however.

One that springs to mind is jokes or comments at Christian 'targets' such as God Himself, Jesus and so on, usually remain on these boards.

Jokes at the expense of other denominations, especially Islam, get taken down faster than a, well, very fast thing.

It all boils down to offence/tolerance towards other religions.

In my view, and it is not my intention to upset anyone, some acceptance of mocking and a bloody sense of humour should be accepted by all.

None of this my God is bigger/better/deserves more respect than yours, nonsense - especially when you live in a multicultural society .

Agreed

The majority of posters try to have an adult conversation/debate but some chose to simply resort to childish name calling, divisiveness and just unnecessary aggression.

I had a post deleted listing reasons why Keir Starmer has his two tier nickname.

The post was in response to a sarcastic post about the reason he’s called that is because it rhymes and implying those who call him that are all thick.

My sensible reply got deleted but not the original sarcastic one my post was in reply to

To deny there’s bias in the moderation of this forum is bonkers.

And if posts only get deleted because a forum member has took the time to report the post, basically because they disagree, or because it points out some inconvenient truths about their beloved Starmer then they really need to grow up.

As left of centre this forum is, I disagree with practically 80% of political opinions on here. I’m just not sad enough to report them, and in any case I’m not sure they’d be removed as they fit the general opinion of the most active forum member’s political views.

If my post was deleted because it could’ve raised tensions on the forum, I understand that. But why wouldn’t the original baiting post be deleted too?

Above has just reminded me that I took up my current profile pic as the default "Z" was deemed offensive to some posters here in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Was respectful and informative

Yeah I don’t really get it either. Seemed like very civil discussion.

Just for clarity I didn't think anyone was arguing, it was more the sensitive subject discussed and I think the mods have been clear what is on/off limits to be discussed......
