Danny Drinkwater promo video shows what a really good player Vardy is.

It'd be great to see him get back on track, but he only made 5 appearances in a year for Burnley/Villa so he can't have impressed either of them much.

I think at this point, he really needs a long run of games showing what he is capable of and I doubt he'll get it in the PL unless it's due to injuries.

I think DD is a very niche player. He excelled in the premier league in a very specific system, playing in a two man midfield with a literal world class teammate. He could be forgiven for letting the success go to his head, and believing that he was better than he actually was.

He probably still thinks of himself as the Danny Drinkwater that won the premier league in 2015-16, and not the Danny Drinkwater that struggled in the premier league in the seasons before and after. I'm sure he's mentally struggling with what has happened since 2016, and the lack of consistent minutes isn't helping the physical side of his game.

The main issue a lot of players that make the move to big clubs is that when things don't work out, the money is too good for them to leave. The reality is that even if he gets a move to a new team, and regains some level of form, he'll never be a consistent starting player in the premier league team again. Perhaps he's better off going in a different direction in his career - coaching, scouting, etc. I am sure Leicester City would support him in his future endeavors.

I think what’s occurred after leaving us has tainted some fans’ idea of how fantastic he was for us. For a long time, when he played poorly the whole team did which showed his importance over a 5 year spell and 2 different league titles.

I think he thought he was bigger than the club in the end and confirmed that when jumping ship to Chelsea and ruined himself and his career, life lesson.

Not denying he was a great player when he was here.

...I would say, that it would have been realistic that he felt that there was nothing more he could achieve at Leicester!!!

For someone who aspired to be Paul Scholes and the avenue to United closed to him an alternative big club competing year on year for the title and Champions League is a good option.

I have absolutely no problem with him leaving and him putting in a transfer request only helped to facilitate the move as we were about to begin the season and had a disgruntled player on our books.

I still believe we have a symbiotic relation with Drinkwater and would not be surprised if he turns up at the club in some capacity.

Behave. Just won the league, played in champions league, got offered a big move to one of the biggest clubs in England.

What an bitter, obnoxious thing to say about somebody you don’t know personally. Be better pal ;)

it was clear for anyone to see he wasn't getting into that Chelsea side, I don't begrudge him for making the move but he didn't give a shit about us and left us needing a replacement last minute.

If DD didn't leave Leicester for Chelsea would he still be a regular starter for us at this moment in time? Would his game have developed with Leicester's? Or would he be a "bit part" player like Wes and Fuchs, called upon when needed?

I would say likely, because he was that good for us there would’ve never been the need to replace him. He’ll find a club when his contract expires, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a championship club mind.

..he had already pushed for the move after the Premiership win and was getting frustrated that it had not come about!!!

The club was not taken by surprise, they were aware before he left.

he's only got himself to blame then, hopefully he can turn it around now.

If only the Chelsea gaffer that signed him had your footballing brain he would’ve saved Chelsea a fortune.

Its just the same old, stockpiling english players to meet the quotas.

Isnt it ironic that the rules put in place to make sure english players get opportunities, is the rule that leads to so many english talents being wasted?

I was at the Barnsley game and, like others, was delighted when he came to us.

Put some great performances in for us and achieved the unthinkable with the rest.

Gutted when went but didn't think he'd do well there with the talent they already had.

Really hope things work out for him and he can get his career back on track.

I'd be very surprised if it's with us though as our squad has improved and he's gone the other way.

If Sean Dyche couldnt get him right theres not many that can. Hopefully he's got himself back in a good mental state

...there are certain types of players that can respond and play within Dyches' football environment!!!

By all reports and even from Drinkwater, he has issues which he struggles with and moving to new places and environments can only serves to exacerbate this, and you are then unable to function as before.

The possibility that he maybe suffering from  ADHD, inview of the difficulties and his inability to control his reaction in situations, even when those actions, is detrimental to him and only being in the present, at that time, is upper most in his mind.

I hope that he has looked into getting help outside of football and admitting that there is a problem, is a big first step.

I was just about to post those exact words. I remember Pearson describing him as a 'complex character' so clearly something is a miss somewhere, but for us it just seemed to be right club, right time.

Yeah when someone says complex character its usually code for 'cvnt'.

He's probably the most successful city player I know that seemed to hate the fans.  I dont think he ever warmed to us, even when we loved him. Perhaps that just how I saw it though

Seeing all those long range beauties by Drinkwater reminded me that recently, we seemed to shy away from shots from distance.

We mostly either counter atrack after beating the press or else pass, pass, pass and try to walk it in.

Apart from Maddison's pearler against Man City, have we scored that many long range screamers recently ?

He was a great player for us. Some amazing assists, some lovely goals. 5 years, 2 league titles. Can't ask for much more. And what was he £500K or something?

My favourite was the 94th minute equaliser vs Watford in the promotion season. Such an important goal that too in the grand scheme of things.

We had won 9 in a row before that match. It was matchday 30, going for that 10th win in a row and we found ourselves 2-0 down at HT. Drinkwater popped up with a worldie in the 94th minute and we went a further 10 games upbeaten and stormed to the title.

Honestly I think he needs to drop down to the Championship and learn to hold his head up high. He won the league with a miracle team that will never, ever, in the history of the sport, be forgotten. He played champs league. He doesn't have to prove anything. What he needs to do is sort himself out because otherwise he'll find himself retired with nothing to do and that never ends well.

Honestly I think a Bournemouth or Watford would do him. He could add so much to those dressing rooms.

(It was 2-1 at half-time)

I've gone on record here a few times as being in the camp that said DD benefitted from playing in the same midfield as someone doing the 'dirty work' - James, Cambiasso and Kante in that order, but on reanalysis there's no getting away from the fact he carried us during the darker days towards the end of Claudio's reign and through Shakespeare's renaissance (sorry, couldn't resist ).

I was p*ssed as a fart and barely remember it in person, but that inch-perfect assist for Vardy against Sevilla in Claudio's final game sums up just how brilliant a playmaker he was in his prime.

It's genuinely sad how things have gone for him. I do, however, fully believe he needs to swallow his pride and drop a division to get gametime, like a lot of our fallen stars have done. Regular games are the only way, in a million years, he's gonna be able to rediscover any sort of spark.
