"Representatives of the duke declined to comment on the source of funds for the donation".

Ours, then.

Despicable, the lot of them. Obviously the royal hierarchy would have known of this before it became public. Not one shred of decency. If a son of mine was accused of something similar, I'd refuse to bail him out and drive him to court myself.

He has sold his Swiss Chalet to pay for it.  Not our money, or the queens money.  Yes the Queen clearly knew about the case, which is why she stripped him of all his titles.

So a lesson to all. If you have enough money you can break the law in the most serious way and get a way with it.

This world is so ****ed up and it seems rotten to the core at the moment.

We will never know whether he knew she was trafficked or coerced or not, but you have to accept it is possible at that time he just thought all women wanted to sleep with him, I think he really is / was that much of a twat.  Very hard for her side to prove otherwise anyway, and in the circumstances I can see why they settled.  She doesn't need or want the money for herself, and this can do a lot of good.

Surely if she wanted justice, she’d have perused the case?

She was adamant from what I read, that she wouldn’t settle.

Unless this was the plan, as now he’s finished and has no way back with the public.

At the end of the day if her Lawyers are advising her to take the settlement is she going to defy them and risk a huge legal bill and no outcome?  It isn't fair but it is reality.  Thi way she gets him out of his comfort zone, seriously out of pocket and essentially the whole world sees it as a guilty plea.

Why did the representatives of Prince Andrew declined to comment then?  They could have just said the donation was made by Prince Andrew's personal funds or something like that instead of damaging his reputation even more by their silence.

Oh the Grand old Duke of York

He had 10 million quid

He gave it away to an American girl

For something “he never did”

Suspect the Palace would prefer to shill out just to make this all go away.

Moments like this the reverence towards our unelected head of state just seems totally bizarre. Obviously there are other shady, unelected heads of state around the world but few are so universally loved and respected.

That’s not how the royal family funding works.  The queen has personal wealth estimated at £300m or so.

Where did that come from? Her lucrative career in F1

In essence all royal money, historic or otherwise, filters or filtered up from the public.

Of course not. She played centre back for Man Utd for years. Have you ever seen her and Gary Palister in the same room together?

Only once at an adult party and let me tell you, there was no romance involved.

Are you saying Gary Pallister is a "queen"? Try saying that to his face.

Not all, I'm saying the Queen is a Gary Pallister.

She had to make her money somehow.

It wasn't through a system of taxes and forfeiture in the name of piety that amassed that 'personal' fortune then?
