Yeah I'm no history buff but the French revolution and guillotines obviously spring to mind.  To my knowledge it's not something that's ever really happened cordially though I'm sure there must be examples of it, hopefully a forum historian can answer that one.  Would be nice if we could be the first though

It's not really seizing though, is it?  The land was previously being used to generate funds to govern the country, so the act of 'donating' it was to effectively maintain its purpose while retaining an income for the monarchy.  Without that deal I imagine the same result would have been achieved through less pleasant means.  Don't get me wrong, I'm no rabid anti-monarchist, I just don't really see the point of them anymore nor do I think the arguments in favoUr of it or against changing things really hold up to scrutiny.

If it's decided that the monarchy no longer have a place then I would have no issue as long as their property is returned to them.

They can then be taxed as private individuals in the usual fashion.

OK, but what we're talking about doesn't belong to the individual members of the Windsor family, it belongs to 'the crown'.  With no crown they have no claim and frankly I have no idea why anybody would want to randomly hand over holdings that are used to generate public funds out of an outdated sense of loyalty to a special family.

It would be a legal minefield I think.

Sounds like he’s dossing it on Harry’s sofa while Harry as a fierce and hushed argument in the kitchen with Meghan. He’ll come out to say he’s welcome for a few nights while he gets sorted but, it’s, you know, not practical, we have busy life’s etc uncle. Meghan will be standing in the kitchen doorway, arms folded looking stern.

“One night Harry. One night and you said he’d be gone”

Does this mean he is another one we won't have to continue to pay for?

Of course not. He's still a member of the Royal Family.

He can no longer be a "Royal Patron" to any causes he has supported nor be able to use military titles or regalia nearly all of which were "honorary" He also can't use the term "HRH". Just Prince Andrew.

Can’t help but feel this is all Meghan’s fault.

.. and Wellens.

I’d throw Congerton into the mix too. Had they signed that James Hewitt a lot of their problems could have been avoided.

I thought as the Queen receives an inordinate amount of taxpayers' cash and doles it out to family members he would get some that way.

That was kinda my point. The "of course not" was meant as response to what you said, in so far as "we will continue to pay for the scrote" Prince Andrew via the Royals income.

He won't be claiming universal credit anytime soon.

Sounds better than King Charles  IMO lol.

Doesn’t he have to take a new name, or did I dream that?
