Then sacking the manager is the polar opposite of what we should be doing first

I don't follow. Whether or not you think there needs to be a change in the way the club operates or how the power to influence its direction is distributed, the need to dramatically improve results and performances on the pitch should still be the priority and at this point there's only really one way we can do that.

Not the first time an FT analogy has left me puzzled.

Which one of ours is William, standing ready to helmet-lift us out of the bottom 3?

Or is 'William' supposed to represent our fighting spirit, in which case I still have a helmet question

A new voice in the shape of a new manager will revive and rediscover the talents of our players who like the Norman soldiers were talented but in need of effective leadership.

He clearly won’t if we keep losing every game as is happening at the moment. Are you really suggesting he will get another 8 games and even if our losing run hit double figures he would remain.

...well there is little sign of discontent by the Board, so there is no reason to suspect up until the World Cup is not when they will choose to make a decision.

At this moment you would not rule out an extended contract.

Is there anything coming from the board to refute this idea?

DoF first, or Head of Football, whatever the hell it’s called. Someone who signifies our identity, someone who will outlive the next manager, who defines the club direction moving forward- then they help choose the manager who fits these aims, someone who isn’t called Rudkin.

Get Brendan the f out, but get this guy in first for the long term future of the club from a footballing perspective.

Yes, the current results need to change, but fixing it next week to break it next month won’t save us.

If that is your mindset then I can only assume you're expecting Rodgers to be here for the season? Or for some bizarre reason you are another one of these people who seem to have interpreted what I said as "Rodgers in"?

Whether it's tomorrow or next month he goes, if this form carries on he will go... then I fancy my chances that the squad that has been good enough to fight for upper-top half finishes for the last three seasons might just be able to keep us up, yeah.

You seem to be mocking people who are concerned so I don’t see where Rodgers in comes into it, more likely either one of these who thinks we will stay up with no stronger argument than ‘we are too good’. News flash, nobody apart from the rich 6 are exempt, we are not too good. That or you find the idea of us going down genuinely amusing? Id say the former in fairness to you.

Second paragraph ok fair enough, I’m sure most of us myself included agree with the sentiment that we can turn it round. The concern is that there is no sign of them giving him the boot yet so what if we get to 10 games, only 3 more so quite feasible he gets those, with 1 point? Surely you have to admit that is very unlikely to be turned around?

is he actually not going?

I wouldn't bank on it being any time soon by the looks of it.

Not much happening really so can I ask if anybody else has been in a supermarket today? Absolute madness, all over one short noticed bank holiday.

Queues in Tesco were worse than what I remember from the toilet roll shortage of the Covid era.

If Rodgers isn't leaving, maybe share your experiences if out shopping today

Co op was busy for a Sunday. Its a fair bet the off licence near me will be open all day so I'm sorted:brendan:

I'm "mocking" whoever it was who said that the damage is already done, and that we're going down. We are/were 3pts from safety with 31 games remaining. Two wins from our favourable set of fixtures coming up and suddenly we have our heads above water. Whether Rodgers or whoever our manager may be for our next two will get two wins from the next two games is obviously another question. I'll start planning for life in the Championship if we still haven't reached the 7pt mark in the next 5 games.

I've got no issue with the points deficit. We are going down as this guy has lost the ability to set the team up.

Every time we score, the other team simply ups a gear and scores, often within seconds.

An opponent merely has to attack. Not create. Simply attack And they will have an excellent statistical chance of scoring.  Bizarrely, there were long spells where we bossed spurs yesterday when in possession. We forced them into multiple unforced errors. Yet, they still could've have 10 or 11 goals from their 10 or 11 attacks. First half, I think, they hadn't had a shot yet very nearly scored 4. Wtf?

We are down not because of the point gap, but because this clown seems to have had some kind of breakdown and has lost (at least foootball wise) his faculties

I just can't believe he's still here. It's like the board want us to go down.

It's the only conclusion I can draw. The club - manager (out of petulance) and board (through some kind of brain fog) -  appear to WANT to be relegated. Extraordinary.

Fair enough, apologies for the jumping to a conclusion.

Of course it’s not done. I think people are justified for the level of concern and mostly people are saying ‘if’ we don’t change him in this international break we will be on the back foot for the next run of fixtures making the 7 points in the next 5 games more unlikely. Clearly there’s an element of preparing for disappointment to try and ease the reality should it happened. Preparing for the worst.

It does feel the club is sleep walking towards relegation at the moment….

I seriously don't get how you or anyone can have this train of thought about the board?

Let's assume they were losing interest or planning to sell, please explain how wanting the team to go down helps them sell it?

More to the point why would they want that considering the countless millions  they've invested into the infrastructure and development of the club?

I truly am open to the reasons justifying  your comment.

Don't take everything so literally.

You'll make yourself look silly.
