wardyfox86 Posted 9 May 2021 Posted 9 May 2021 (edited) Can see them lining up something like this against us: De Gea Tuanzebe, Bailly, Maguire, Telles Matic, De Beek Mata, Bruno, Greenwood Cavani Still solid. Edited 9 May 2021 by wardyfox86

We don't have any easy choices but Fofana I believe is used to playing in a 3 and there was very little cohesion with Cags on Friday. So perhaps either Amartey or even drop Wilf into the centre of defence and bring Mendy in to midfield although it sounds a bit negative I know for a game we need to win. Castagne looked so uncomfortable on Friday so I would like the wing backs to stay in their normal role. We don't have time to make major changes in formation. I think we have to be bold and switch to a 4 at the back. We need to be winning these big games now and I think part of the problem with 3 at the back, is that Fofana and Soyuncu are often required to bring the ball forward, and that is often when we get caught out with the through balls and them being out of position. Get them in a a solid back 4 with N'didi shielding them and lets attack these games. We need to change it up! 1

Clever Fox Posted 9 May 2021 Posted 9 May 2021 It would be silly to Risk Evans against Utd if he has any chance of playing in the Final. The extra few days to recover could make all the difference. Let's see Soyuncu as the senior CB take responsibility and see how he gets on with Amartey. I'd rest Fofana, Wilf and Youri and Vardy for the Final. 1

I'd rather use him as the main man and have Kel as a number 10. That probably means dropping Maddison. I don't think he's quite strong or wise enough for that role as yet, he is improving no doubt but I'd rather see madders or tielemens play that role
filbertway Posted 9 May 2021 Posted 9 May 2021 So, working on the assumption that United will either play a weaker team or a knackered team, we've got to take the game to them. 4 2 3 1. Maddison pushed right up with Nacho. Vardy to come on later in the game. Work the ball up the channels and get bodies in the box. Wilf, cover everything. Schmeichel Ricardo Fofana Soy Castagne Wilf Tielemans Perez Maddison Albrighton Kelechi

Though I'd rest a few more with a view to giving it a real go on Saturday in the Final.
Ric Flair Posted 9 May 2021 Posted 9 May 2021 People criticising Vardy and Maddison but picking Ricardo in their teams. Wow 1

Wow Aside from when WBA gave us the freedom of their half, have any of our wing backs looked good playing how we've played? I think it's more to do with the job he's being asked to do than the player himself.
filbertway Posted 9 May 2021 Posted 9 May 2021 Loveloy goal by Greenwood that. He's been watching Kel!

Yep - said it in another thread but he's kept our season alive to be honest, nobody would've seen this coming. I've for a while not thought he was quite as bad as made out (he's been far better under Rodgers) but I didn't think he had this in him. I just do not like this system. It's never been convincing for me. 1

Huge miss for them.

LukeFoxes Posted 9 May 2021 Posted 9 May 2021 (If Evans can play) Kasper Fofana Evans Cags Timmy Thomas Wilf Youri Perez Iheanacho Vardy We can afford to carry Vardy at the minute due to his threat in behind and how teams set up against us when he’s in the side. However, Maddison and Riccy P as well... not a chance. Put Castagne back on the right where he’s far more forward thinking and move Perez into the 10 as he’s looked far more threatening in recent times than an unfit, low in confidence Madders. I don’t want our number 10 picking the ball up constantly in the LB/LWB position. We need him in between the lines finding space and making something happen/ impacting the game. He’s had a chance - now’s not the time to afford him that luxury.

If West Ham win as well then that's about as close to necessity as we can get 1

He’s the only thing player we have that brings that simile calming presence at the back. Stick Papy alongside Youri and we’ll still be okay in the middle of the park. Hahahah! Calm presence from Wilf at CB
