I actually think there is a chance that they make changes against Liverpool. Get the win against us, and if they lose to Liverpool he can blame the scheduling. There is a chance he makes changes against us, and loses and goes full strength on Thursday and still lose.

I imagine Man Utd will start something like the below. Still a pretty decent side but should be able to get at that back 4.

                    De Gea

Williams - Bailly - Lindelof - Telles

             McTominey - Matic

Greenwood - Van der Beek - James

                       Cavani

With a lot of you on this, if Evans is out we have to go back to a back 4. Unless Amartey plays as an actual CB in a back 3 . That would leave Castagne to play on the wing where he's used to?

Kasper

Ricardo - Fofana - Soyuncu - Castagne

Ndidi

Praet - Tielemans

Perez

Vardy - Iheanacho

Maddison can be rested for the final if it must be the case. If he's not fully fit I don't get how he plays 3 times in a week, for any amount of time. I don't think he's as car-crash as a lot make out, but I do agree he's not at his best right now. Perez has shown more in his cameos off the bench.

Vardy isn't getting the goals but he's still important to how we play. Confidence still taking a hit but he's still grabbing an assist here and there. It might not be the most frequent of contributions but he's still important. We have to stick with the 2 because that brings out the best in Iheanacho. Drop Vardy and leaving him isolated is worse than maintaining the back 3 to suit the formation we're currently used to. I'd be amazed and disappointed if Rodgers changed the front 2 set-up.

Got nothing to lose with starting Praet.

Ironically, whatever team we start with, I think what will be more telling is the side Man Utd start with for this game as well as their Villa game, and what that signals for their priority i.e. does Ole value our game more or the one against Liverpool. The old cliche is that points on the board are more important so maybe he'll go strong today and Tuesday, and rotate Thursday?

Like that set up, though on balance I think Castagne on the right and Thomas on the left would give us more potency.

That team is still pretty strong. We need a semi final performance from them. Cavani at the moment looks in frightening form.

I really want Ricardo to come good before the end of the season :(

Does it matter whether they lose both? They've already got CL unless there's a 20 goal swing.

Playing full strength against us means they'll have had 3 games in 5 days.

My concern with dropping Vardy is it leaves us with zero pace on the counter. Ie. The team suggestions with a front 4 combination of: Iheanacho, Praet, Perez, Maddison, and Albrighton. Personally I believe Nachoman would be okay up top on his own, if there was pace either side ie. Barnes and Ünders replacement hopefully. But with Marc and Perez either side there would be no one able to stretch them.

actually not looking forward to the prospect of playing the Utd’s ressies. If they line up with James and Greenwood and Cavani up top that’s still a pretty fearsome front 3 and could be deadly on the counter. Would feel more comfortable if we were able to sit a bit deeper and catch them on the break.

So, working on the assumption that United will either play a weaker team or a knackered team, we've got to take the game to them.

4 2 3 1. Maddison pushed right up with Nacho. Vardy to come on later in the game. Work the ball up the channels and get bodies in the box. Wilf, cover everything.

Schmeichel

Ricardo

Fofana

Soy

Castagne

Wilf

Tielemans

Perez

Maddison

Albrighton

Kelechi

Man U tend to do worse against teams that sit back. eg. Palace, WBA, Chelsea.

I reckon we should just go for it at Old Trafford and take the game to them. Just like we did in the 1st half against West Brom.

...United will destroy us on the counter!!!

We’ve just got to hope West Ham and Liverpool don’t pick up any form. Hopefully they **** up a little on the way. If we can somehow cling onto 4th until Spurs I’m confident we can still make it. We won’t beat United or Chelsea so maybe if we can sneak a point off one of them we might stand a slim chance. But United will take us to the cleaners on Tuesday to finish the job.

So a vastly rotated squad and points to only 3 of the starting XI today starting on Tuesday?

And if we were playing a full strength Man U I would prefer us to sit in and counter them

Playing either a weak or unfit United team though we should be seizing the initiative

Must say, and I won't on Tuesday, but I generally love watching Cavani play. Think people think of him as a bit of a mercenary due to PSG, but his movement is so good. Proper striker.

Hes a really weird one for me, as you say very good movement and finisher. Yet especially for PSG, I saw him miss so many chances that would make Akinbiyi blush.

He would miss a one on one and an open goal, then smash one in the top corner 30 minutes later

I don't profess to having seen a ton of him at PSG. I may have got lucky with the occasions that I have! Certainly seems to have been a very useful signing for Utd and has always looked dangerous in their side. Good defensive work too.

Slabhead out of the game on Tuesday and due to have a scan.

I know we like to say he's awful, but he has recently seemed to sort his form out and missing an ever present defender can only disrupt them for Tuesday (as we saw with Evans). Good news for us.
