I had forgotten that we have the Community Shield - so Man City early August.

The numbers attending might depend on the results of the post match PCR research  testing in 4-5 days and of course the Indian or other variants.

I went yesterday and it almost eclipsed celebrations after the Everton match in May 2016. Unbelievable atmosphere. A proper football match. PS. The parking at the ground although very expensive was also excellent IMO if you don't fancy the coach/train.

I think this is key really and to the Euros. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised to see a number of infections following the match especially considering the very poor percentage of mask wearing that went on. The coach I was on had at least half the people not wearing them on the way back and quite a few on the way down. Have to say this was in the main men aged 55 plus and older whilst all the younger fans strictly kept theirs on. One older guy wore a mask on the way down but every time he talked to his friend across the aisle he took it off!

I thought everyone had been tested before they could go?

Surely transmission would therefire be zero, since nobody had it

Yes that's the theory. If there are no infections or very few it would show the scheme worked well. Of course depends on most people doing the second test on Thursday to see the results. I should clarify I'm not expecting many infections but we shall see.

Unfortunately my understanding is that lateral flow tests are not as reliable as you might think particularly when detecting infection in well patients without symptoms who have less virus circulating. So there is always going to be some risk. The PCR test is more reliable so the research on the safety outdoor events should be reasonably accurate. I thought that there would be slightly more spacing as well - fans did not seem to be evenly distributed throughout the ground yesterday.

Man City dont usually give a shit about this fixture so I think we should just to bag another trophy. I fancy our chances.

Well they won the last two they were in 2018 and 2019 so I'm not sure that's true.

This is a game that’s never interested me, I have to admit.

It’s just a pre-season friendly isn’t it? (They’ve never interested me either!)

Yeah, I get that, and not meaning to be knocking anyone who enjoys it - just doesn’t do it for me.

Ah crap, I thought I remember them losing a couple but maybe because they've played in so many I convinced myself they dont take it seriously...

They don’t need to take anything seriously to win it. With their squad they’d have a decent go at winning the league if they played their second XI all season. If they sign Kane it’ll just get silly.

Generally teams play full strength sides, good to look at new signings as well... it is pretty competitive
