Him and mcateer seem to be the two we are willing to Chuck in with regular bench appearances. Do we think mcateer inclusion is for his versatility? Hasn’t he played in about 5 positions for the u23s?

I think he has played pretty much every position up the left side, as a 10, and as a right winger this season

With Daka & Vardy (possibly) out injured and Iheanacho off to the African cup of nations is Wakeling good enough to be drafted into the first team squad?

When was the last time Wakeling was drafted into the u23 squad? Seriously, he seemed to be knocking them in for fun, and then dropped off the face of the earth.

Strange goings on yet again in the U23's. Maswanhise been the standout player as a winger so they then decided to stop playing wingers as wingers and play them up front instead.

No game time for Suengchitthawon in the 1st leg as Thailand beat Indonesia 4-0

With such a convincing win, hopefully they will rotate for the 2nd leg and Suengchitthawon should get some good game time

Starting in the second leg now, 1-0 down early on.

He was hooked at half time though

He isn’t a starter for them and they made quite a few changes to the side - throughout the competition they have made changes at half time, quite often Suengchitthawon coming on at half time

Seven years in the Prem and we’ve produced six Premier League players. And we did the majority of that with our old training centre. Exciting times.

Our academy is really going to be stretched this month, hopefully a great opportunity for some of them.

Saturday will see an entire bench of academy players I'd imagine.

How do we go about going to see this? Want to take my little boy to his first game, do you need to be a STH or a member or anything?

Pro's & con's to that. Whilst it will be good for the lads to have the experience & opportunity, they then become part of "First Team Squad" (as they will be given a squad number etc.) meaning should we have any further COVID cases, we have a bigger pool of "First Team" players reducing our chances of a postponement.

Just fold the season lol

Hahaha yes I did think that might be the case but don't they have to have played x amount of times?

Supposedly bench appearances count, too, after a certain number. Supposedly at least Nelson and McAteer count to our total of "senior players available."

How is Alves performing this season?

From the bits I've seen he's being used in the U23's more out of a recognition of how much we value him as a prospect rather than him being deserving. Precious little point a player of his ilk playing U18's even though our U18 side is dynamite, might as well try and fast track him but so far he's been ordinary for the U23's. Don't think it helps how badly our U23's set up as a system and style, think 80's Wimbeldon and farmers.
