You can never be certain of anything, just like you can't be certain Brendan Rodgers is the best man for the job going forward. We are underperforming and he has to take responsibility. We've a group of players that have been together for quite a few years and some of them want a new challenge, likewise he's been here nearly 3 seasons now and his effectiveness with these players with his methods are waning. We need a rebuild, I said only a few weeks ago that he'd earnt the right to be that man but it was touch and go depending on how he handled this continued malaise and shocking defensive displays. His actions were not good enough and he was changing nothing in regard to our set piece defending which was astonishing.

You could have taken this stance with Ranieri, Shakespeare or Puel and said how did anyone know a new manager would be better. Rodgers up to last weekend was on a very similar run of form over the last 25-30 games as Claude Puel.

Were Man Utd wrong to bin Solskjaer, Villa, Spurs? Do you think Chelsea regretted getting rid of Lampard?

Nobody can ever be sure a new manager will be better than the previous, the same as nobody can be sure a current manager can turn it around. Recent history suggests the former is more likely than the latter though sadly.

Interested to know who has come out and said they want a new challenge?

Wilfred Ndidi has been angling for a move, he's told the club as much. Tielemans is evidently going and rightly so, he deserves it. Soyuncu still no new contract and his form has suffered. Schmeichel wants CL football and likely will leave after next season. Then there's a number of other players who's contracts are close to expiring.

I honestly don't see which elite team wants Ndidi, even Man U have sorted themselves out now and got somebody in with a brain so I doubt they'd touch him. I just can't see how someone so bad on the ball fits in at an elite team, aside from maybe Simeone's Atletico where he'd probably be allowed to just do what he's best at.

Soy is a very interesting one. Considering we've basically broken Evans, will most likely lose Fofana in the next 18 months and will probably want to shift Vesty asap, letting Soy run down his contract seems an unwise idea.

Kasper I'm not too worried about losing, we're good enough to attract quality keepers, most of whom have big personalities anyway.

Anyone who ever wants us to lose any game is rather odd in my book.
The only way to turn form around is to win games and build confidence.

What about the whole team wanting Ranieri out? The first leg of the Athletico match? The players wanted Ranieri out and the sooner the better.

They wouldn’t have begrudge a loss to see that happen sooner. Musa was pretty much the only happy player you could see on the bench when Vardy scored.

Various Man Utd fans surely wanted Ole out sooner and wouldn’t mind a loss to help that cause. I wouldn’t say they were ban fans. Just sensible.

If a fan thinks a loss would help the club by sooner getting a new, better manager then fine. I and you might not agree. But it makes them no less a Leicester fan.

And yet Spurs, Man Utd and Aston Villa have proven that last part comes almost immediately when replacing the manager and that it would highly unlikely not have occurred had the previous manager continued.

How much of that is fact, and how much surmise / conjecture / guesswork?

....I  am at a loss that you have such a poor regard for one of our best players!!!

Believe it or not, you have to be able to read the game in order to be in the position to intercept passes, breakup attacks and win essential tackles in order to secure or defence.

It is no wonder we are struggling defensively when we are using him further in in our attack as opposed to screening our backline.

Unless Rodgers has a vision how he wants our defensive midfielder to be involved, further up the pitch,, then Ndidi is not your man and he would be better going elsewhere.

Rodgers perseverance in playing Ndidi the way he now plays him has now gone on too long, it doesn't work and Rodgers constantly fails to take the required action and leaves a player frustrated with the team, with the manager and with himself.

For someone said to excell in man management, he lacks awareness of the dilemma he is putting his players through.

I don't see how that's holding him in poor regard to be honest.

The bloke is one of the best in the world as protecting the defence, snubbing out attacks and winning the ball back.

Elite teams tend to dominate the ball and play against very defensive teams, a player like Wilf will struggle to fit in as he's not that good on the ball. Opposition players will target him as a weakness and he'll slow down momentum whenever he recieves it.

I don't think it's an incredibly harsh slight to say that I don't think a player would be courted by the top 8-10 clubs in the world.

Who’s stepping up tomorrow night then? Wilf and nelson cb? Brunt on the bench?

CB is a hard position for a youngster to play but Nelson's been on the bench quite a few times, so surely it must be time for him to at least get a few minutes.

Nelson is ready IMO, I think we'll see the start of a fantastic career for him.

Hope so we could do with a CB or two coming through. I think we've still got Sam Hughes here in the under 23's he joined in 2017 and is 24 now.

He is at Burton on loan, had spent most of the season still training and recovering from his knee injury with us but starting to play under 23 games for us and friendlies for them now

...I was just thinking about him, not heard too much about where he is in respect of game time!!!

In my opinion we field this lot next week in the cup.....what other option do we have?

Be a bit disrespectful to the near 6K fans travelling up to Liverpool midweek 3 days before Christmas to field the u23s side. Few youngsters in the 11 or squad wouldn't be a bad idea though.

Where's Wanya Marca and Maswanhise? So strange how they've suddenly fallen down the pecking order when they've been pur best two U23 players.
