So has Steve Beaglehole left or is he being made to reapply for the job?

Changed his name to Shamus by the looks of it, u11 and u12 coach.

Interesting how the U23 main man is a vacant position, Petty is down as being the assistant. Is that because Beaglehole was removed/left and they've not technically filled it or it's a genuine vacancy that we are looking to fill and Petty is temporarily in charge?

I wonder if McGuinness had anything to do with Popov and Lindsay joining us in the summer, Popov seems a ridiculous coup given Utd wanted to keep him.

I'd heard this Popov was the real deal when he was on trial here and it was baffling how Man Utd didn't manage to get him to stay but what a huge coup for us.

I regularly abuse our academy for their inability to recruit well in the 16-19 age group but @Chocolate Teapot was right when he said this summer was different with Popov, Grist, Lindsay and Young.

Hopefully we can nab a few more from good stock.

You wonder if when the first few gems start signing from bigger clubs, if others will begin to follow more as they see what's happening in that age group?

Yes, this is a real possibility.

If he's the same as what FM says, this is absolutely huge for the youngsters/academy at the club...

Good rating for defending... get him coaching the first team!

Must come with a grand reputation considering he was at Man Utd for nearly 25 years.

Bit of a coup getting this fella in it will be interesting to see who they appoint for the u23’s

Suggests we are shuffling the academy side of things. Wonder if we were giving the original coaches time to prove themselves at the new training facility, and now splashing some cash to bring in top top coaches.

Taking from United isn't a bad idea at all given the talent their academy regularly produces

Out of interest who oversee's the coaching appointments in the academy set up? Is it the first team manager or someone like Rudkin?

Rudkin still heavily involved

Suenchitthawon played another 76 minutes for Thialand today in a 2-1 win over the Philippines

Short highlights video below

3rd clip he takes the 25 yard shot which is tipped onto the bar by the keeper

.. it would be natural for all youth players around the surrounding areas to gravitate to United!!!

This would not mean the Coach is an elite Coach or of any great talent in that domain. The natural talent will always come through and would be attributed to the grassroot training but it will not be necessarily so.

In his roles at United and with the FA he’ll have encountered a great deal of talented young players - more importantly he’ll have networked with lots of promising coaches.

He went to Loughborough so he’ll likely have some affinity for the area too.

This is a positive change, hopefully he stays in his role for a long while. We’ve churned through some academy appoints (Idiakez & Halajko) relatively quickly.
