Italy to win. Probably comfortably. Spain won't be afforded all the chances they've been given in previous matches; the Italian defence is just far too mean and solid. Chiellini and Bonucci vs Morata? Won't be 100% straightforward as that but I know who I'd put my money on.

Italy just generally have too much quality for a Spain side that, for me, have surprised me in getting this far.

Spain may get a goal but this Italy side seem far too polished and in their rhythm and flow; they're a well-oiled machine to put it simply.

Am I the only one that thinks the Italians will run out of steam. They've virtually attempted to blitz teams this tournament with some unreal high tempo football but the way they play is unsustainable imo. It's full throttle and against a side like Spain who hold the ball and can play round a press, think they'll find it tough. We're equally capable of holding the ball and playing round their press so I can't see their tactics working against both Spain and us (should we get to the final!)

I think the love fest over Italy is way over the top. They had a good second half against a woeful Turkey and decent first half against a poor Belgium performance. Thought they laboured to wins over 10 man Wales and Austria. Switzerland gave them too much respect.

Clearly, they are a talented team with some wonderful players, but if Lukaku hadn’t missed that absolute sitter a below par Belgium team may have made the semi final. I know that’s all ifs and buts and Italy may well win the tournament, but they have displayed a surprising vulnerability in defence without paying for it.

Their defenders are mostly knocking on and It showed they don’t cope well with real pace (who does) as that young winger Doku nearly tore them a new one in the last 20 minutes. Now Italy have lost just about their youngest and maybe best defender, they will have to readjust. I think Spain and England have the players to exploit this weakness and go either outside to the by line or cut inside. It will be Interesting to see whether Italy’s tactics will change now we are at the sharp end of the tournament and in theory playing against inform and more skilful teams.

The thing is, Italy started the tournament really strong but they seem to be running out of steam. Compare that to England who are playing the almost perfect tournament by getting better each match. Easy opponents or not, it's an extremely good sign.

Spain have been OK and are capable of playing good football but they have a lot of average phases during matches and have struggled in front of goal.

Hopefully Italy win but Spain have it in them to tank them a la 2012.

Do they?!

They seemed properly going for it and on it against Belgium.

I think the stronger oppositions don't help. They almost seem to play for the kill as early as possible and then by the final quarter they are holding on. The Belgium game in the first half was like watching a boxing match with little guard from either opponent. I still think the injury to Spinazzola will hurt them as well.

Great post. Summed it up quite well. They've got a great team spirit and togetherness but facing sides who can hold the ball better and the space they leave in behind for someone like Sterling, Sancho, etc., could be game over for them. They may still win it and are a very good side but they've shown more frailties than England so far imo.

Think Spain are the perfect opponent for Italy to be honest.

Spain are stuck in transition really, they're a little too stuck to their old identity despite lacking the players to do it. They're too ponderous and hesitant in possession and that's exactly what Italy will thrive on.

Plus, they need about a thousand chances to score and Italy just won't give it to them.

I think Spain are as good as Italy in all departments except for the most important one - putting the ball in the back of the net. If Morata has one of his rare good days then Spain can definitely win this.

Agreed with this, Spain are underrated by lots of people because they are not the dominant force they used to be - doesn't mean they are a second tier team now - if their strikers can show a clinical edge and they go forward with purpose, they can definitely outplay Italy. IF being the operative word!!

Been given a free tenner to put on this. Either a single or bet builder. Won't get the stake back though so don't want to back Italy in 90 mins at 6/4 to get me 15 quid, though may be the most prudent thing to do. Thoughts?

Italy win and btts

Think Italy win it but I'm getting some slight Portugal 2016 vibes from Spain. They've won one game in 90 minutes and here they are.

Did you watch the Belgium game??

Spain will have to really up their game to stand a chance. Italy losing Spinazzola is a massive lose and not sure Chiellini and Bonucci can do 3 games in a week these days.

But i still think Italy will win but wont be a walk over.

They rely on a quick start and then hanging on in the end. Belgium could easily have got something out of it. Spain/England would have punished Italy.

Italy had enough chances to kill the game in 45 minutes they were awesome.

Like a Boxer who go all out in the first half of a fight and then win unanimous  points decision.

Belgium couldn't cope with them.

We will see tomorrow  what Spain can do.
