coolhandfox Posted 16 July 2021 Posted 16 July 2021 People need to look at Nacho, written off and people wanted him gone. Yes Perez had a poor season, but also came into it injured and had no pre-season.

turlo Posted 16 July 2021 Posted 16 July 2021 If Rodriquez leaves Everton they would be after a new number 10/right sided playmaker...
Lionheart10 Posted 16 July 2021 Posted 16 July 2021 He came,it didn't work out,he needs to go,thats Football.
An Away Move Posted 16 July 2021 Posted 16 July 2021 I’m not one to hold a grudge, but I’ll never forgive that miss in the Chelsea game that would have given us Champions League Football. You had one job Ayoze. That and not holding the party, which impacted the game after.

If not, can you say a-g-e-n-d-a ? 1

Isn't it the case that even if we had beaten Spurs on the last day, we would have still missed out on CL because Chelsea went on to win the competition?

Was it not like 16m plus add-ons? Add ons which (FA cup aside) he won't have achieved with his poor return. It would be interesting to know if it is was definitely 30mill, I doubt it. i have no knowledge of it though so I could be wrong. Obviously the fact there is talk of him having to play so many games. I would imagine that is 100% BS. if we paid 30 mill outright and had a clause to play so many games it would be well known. i think even outside of FT it would have to go down as one of the worst transfers in history.

If Perez hadn't instinctively stuck out a leg and got a fortuitous ricochet from thigh to hand it is very possible we don't win The FA Cup. I think his lasting legacy will always be that moment of good fortune which in itself speaks volumes about his overall contribution. The best that the defence counsel can ever come up with is not a moment of skill or scintillating play, but a momentary fluke, albeit in a massively important game. I would argue that Tielemans went on to do the tricky bit, but thank you Ayoze. 1

If we'd both qualified then England would have entered five clubs into the competition - Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Leicester and Chelsea. I thought that the maximum was four?

I have to say it's a pet peeve of mine and amazes me year after year that people still ask about this and don't understand the rules around qualification for European football. 5 is the maximum amount of teams that can be entered from a single country into the champions league. They did this so that the winners of the champions league could still enter the season after regardless of their league position. If the winners finish out of the top 4 then they qualify along with the top 4. The only time 4th place doesn't qualify is if the europa league winners AND the champions league winners are both from the same country and both finish outside of the top 4. So, as was our case for a couple of weeks last season, if we finished 4th and Chelsea won the champions league with Arsenal winning the europa league we wouldn't have qualified for the champions league if they both finished outside of the top 4. So, if Perez had scored against Chelsea, when it was easier to do so than miss, it was very likely we'd have champions league football this season. End of the day though, we deserved nothing from that game, so it was the right result. But it was still a pretty much unforgivable miss Edited 16 July 2021 by Jimbo 2 1

I thought that the maximum was four? ..no we could have 5!!! If I recall the set up correctly, should a team not in the top 4 win the Europa then that is a guaranteed spot in the Champions League. If the same happened to a team outside of the top 4 going on to win the Champions League they also are rewarded with a guaranteed spot. That then leaves the top three places to be awarded a Champions League placing with 4th place going to the Europa League. I think that is how it works!!!
