If arsenal are serious this may now happen based on this evenings events ….our need for money has increased dramatically..

and we could be forced into taking a lower amount as our need is now great and arsenal know it ….

We don't actually need the money. Seriously.

We won't take a lower amount. Not a chance will we be screwed over. You could be right that we may need to sell him but Arsenal can pay the price or feck off. Kabak is available at a low price and Cahill is on a free. Not our first choice signings but could be a stop gap. Would rather that than bend over and let madders leave to Arsenal for a lower fee. Id say £80m cash or £65m and Rob Holding seeing as we need a cb.

Just hope we don’t go asking for a centre half in the deal from them

I do think it will force us to sell him though.

if we sell Maddison we’d be able to get Tarkowski AND beradi.

keep madders, put whatever money we had left towards a CB and just make do with Albrighton and Perez on the right for another season

I think that's ultimately what will happen.

I’d like to think so but last summer we wanted  65/70m for chilly and failure to make the CL meant we had to accept 50m. (Ref Percy)   Circumstances do make  a difference

Of course none of us know what’s going on with madders but I wonder if the thought we might now need to get some dosh in could flush out a buyer who can actually afford him (rather than arsenal ).

Shame Saliba has gone put on loan, as he’s a player we might have had some interest in. Saliba, Willock and cash may have got the deal done.

I have no issue with people discussing it.

But find it tedious when people make out their opinion is fact or react to every snippet of misinformation as if it's gospel.

Then I surmise it's once more that fine line which separates whatever interpretation one puts on what is potentially fact, and what is rumour becoming 'fact' by repetition and exaggeration. The Chinese Whispers effect.

The kind of people who react like this have to be watched - they're quite likely to arrive at your Transylvanian castle carrying pitchforks, axes and flaming torches!

If Grelish is worth 100mil, what is unrealistic for us to expect 70-80 mil for Maddison?  I really think the Grelish sale to Man City makes it almost impossible for Arsenal to pay for Madders as it sets the benchmark for young talented English midfielders.  How much is Mount and Foden worth?  I know they are probably slightly better than Maddison,  but not 50 mil better.

Possibly but I'm not convinced Rodgers was all that arsed about keeping Chilwell. Suppose it depends on how keen he is to keep Maddison. Rodgers should be insisting that we keep Maddison and get 2 cbs at least and possibly a loan for a winger if any are available. There is no FFP to contend with and we need to speculate to accumulate in my opinion. With us already losing one of our best players in Fofana, Rodgers won't want to see Madders leave. Its so annoying we can't shift the shite out of our squad cos nobody wants them or is willing to pay a decent fee for them.

Although in KDH and Praet we can sort of cover Maddison's midfield role , its his goal threat that we will miss . With Vardy not yet on song, that could be two down. Daka will take some time to adjust so Kelechi and Harvey would have to start most matches I reckon. It make take a miracle but Perez owes us 10+ goals this season.

Yea I 100% agree with you.

Seriously we can sort this in no time.

Kabak for 8 Mill and cahill for free and still have funds for a RW.

There is no need to worry and we won't be selling star players to fund it.

He’s going to want a 2 year contract though isn’t he.

Personally, if he can tide us over this season, and be backup next season, especially on a free transfer, I’d have him.
