Not surprised, we've had weeks of speculation about nothing.

Yep, the recent breaking news updates, which are sending arsenal twitter kids into a frenzy, are just repeating what was reported at the start of the summer ie Arsenal are interested, Maddison might be open to a move and Leicester would demand a huge fee.

There is a nonnegotiable figure of around 70 million. Arsenal can't approach until they are sure they can raise the money. If they can then it could go through quickly like Grealish.

...I do get the impression that if Maddison went then Rodgers would not be fussed!!!

Rodgers has perhaps the teams biggest asset of which he has little control of. If we could sell and bring someone in to replace him with some spare for a Right Winger then Rodgers would  be fine.

You do not know this as none of us do (except ProspecfFox)......

Speculation alert.

What happens if Rodgers knows maddison has a release clause (like Grealish) and knows there might be a team willing to pay it.

Hence his comments yesterday or lack of them......

I didn't think we did release clauses anymore?

Although I think principles have feck all use in football transfers, in this instance, because it a failing giant interested, I hope we just say NO to any offers and proliferate their decline.

Realistically arsenal are probably a sale away from having some money available to buy maddison. That's if its not a load of bollocks.

Yep, sounds like they will get 20-25 for Willock and trying to shift players like Torreira & Bellerin, lLcazette who they might be able to get a few quid for, although do seem to be struggling to offload players for money like most clubs at the mo.  Think it will come down to whether they want to spend 70m on one player or cover 2-3 positions where they need to strengthen.

I really don’t believe that Brendan is not fully aware of the situation and also that he will have a key input into strategy etc.

If he feels that it’s the right time to cash in and use the funds to strengthen the team and squad overall then he will be listened to in the same way if he is reluctant as he sees Madders as absolutely critical to his plans that too will be taken on board.

in front of the media we will rightly play any speculation with a straight bat, we will want to maximise our position and ensure as the selling club that we are in a position of strength to ensure we secure the best possible deal.

Also if Madders stays it’s important he feels he has the backing and support of his manager, we cannot afford to have an asset worth in excess of £60m and costing a further £5-6m in wages per year to lose motivation and focus.

personally I think the club are open to the move as he has had injury and off field disciplinary issues and maybe they feel now is the right time to cash in, Arsenal may be the only legitimate big 6 side that are looking for his type of player and if we don’t sell now we could miss the window of opportunity.
