It's rare for us to have a player barely 17 ready for the first team but I think this lad isn't far off. I know the club have immersed him with the first team now for at least a year so he's very, very highly thought of.

Will Alves recently turned 16 and is playing with the U23’s and from what I’ve seen has skills good enough for the first team already. It’s exciting to see these lads coming through.

Has he done a Cruyff turn in his own box yet?

Nah but he was wizzing past a few players whilst carrying the ball, definitely has come confidence!

Having a first team player called Alves would be good as well

Does anybody know his true height?

Transfer market and Sofa score say he’s only 5 ft 11

Football Critic says he’s roughly 6ft 3.

At least 6ft 3, going on 6ft 4, I should think

Not strictly true. He's made 2 appearances for the U18's. Not yet featured for the U23's. Hopefully he'll kick on this season and be given more U18 and U23 games as he is ridiculously skillful.

I believe he very recently played in the games against Hearts and Nottingham Forest.

Hope so mate, I've not seen anything of the U23's this pre-season. Last season I was frustrated that with all the U23's in 1st team training with Rodgers and then several U18's stepping up to the U23's that Alves didn't get much U18 game time but I think there's an element of keeping him undercooked. Plenty of eyes on him I suspect.

Just managed to see some footage from the Hearts game. He looked ridiculously good. Apparently he was up against some first team in the Forest game too. I think the club realise what they’ve got here. If Barnes moves on in a few years we might already have his replacement in-house.

I hope he doesn’t read foxestalk, so as to not put too much pressure on him, but I think he could be the most exciting prospect to have come out of the academy in a long time. I think people overlook how good you have to be at 17 to be playing first team level (even just pre-season) for a team as good as this current Leicester side. If you were building an ideal centre back, he’s what you would come out with physically too.

Hard to get a football league gig as a 17 year old. Better to keep him here for a year and then loan him out once he's made his pro debut. Looks a prospect though.

I can't believe any team would risk putting a 17yo CB in the first team. Probably need a year or 2 in the U23s first.

Happens occasionally. He completely bypassed the U18's last season and played the whole season for the U23's aged 16. That's unusual for academy players with us.

Let’s face it they could both think they’re right. He’s 17, Transfer market could have checked his measurements in may and football critic in June. His poor old mum is probably struggling to keep him in shoes that fit him and I bet the fridge is always empty. lol

I didn’t get to see the second half, how was nelson when he came on? In awful circumstances 😢

A million miles away from prem standard, to be expected army his agent

I thought Nelson was completely out of his depth when he came on and was a bit of a liability. That said, he's a young talent who needs some first team football on loan, it's to be expected that he's far from Premier League standard at this point in his career.
