Lesta2014 Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 As it’s a scan would suggest the tibia didn’t break. Ankle back in place before he left the pitch then which is good, means was out of place under 5 minutes.
coolhandfox Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 So it sound like just a broken fibula and not tibia which is better and then a dislocated ankle. It will depend on the damage to the ligaments around the ankle.
AKCJ Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 Can't imagine how grim it must feel to have broken your leg and have your ankle displaced and put back into place before the painkillers have a chance to do their thing. 1
StanSP Posted 5 August 2021 Author Posted 5 August 2021 Even reading the words 'put his ankle back in place' sounds horrid to read, even if it is a relatively good thing they could do it so quickly on the pitch. 2

Shame the player in question or club has not even apologized and sent well wishes to Wes. What kind of sportsmanship is that or lack of in Spain? Imagine if furry nino did that to messi? There would be a Spanish inquest ‘literally’ followed by a public hanging! I'm surprised they haven't made a statement yet.
coolhandfox Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 Better news then expected, if he's not broken his Tibia which is the main weight baring bone.

turlo Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 good job the club employed that new trauma Dr in the summer then. hopefully the ligament damage won't be too bad 1
Popular Post jeffschlupp Posted 5 August 2021 Popular Post Posted 5 August 2021 Believe the club's trauma doctor is Prithish Narayan, who has a new joint role at the club as co-head of academy medicine and also tunnel/trauma doctor - I think he was the one in the blue bib on the pitch yesterday. Was chief doctor at Cov before joining us in the summer I believe. The physios on pitch were Head of Medicine Bryan English and also Gary Silk and Tom Freeman, there has been a real turnover of staff in that department. Full credit to them 10 3

kyleolly Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 Good news so far all being well should be back around the sane time as Justin
Pliskin Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 Same injury as Gomez then! So hopefully he will make a good recovery! 1
GingerrrFox Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 A fractured fibula, with no damage to the tibia, the knee appears to have been uninjured, so it’s just checking whether there has been any serious ligament damage to the ankle as they needed to put that back in place. If he’s got no serious ligament damage to his ankle, I reckon he’ll be back this side of Christmas. 1

Spudulike Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 Really hoping it's not an ACL. Slightly concerned about the patient behind him. 1 1
drumbeat Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 Let's not get ahead of ourselves with predictions. It sounds like positive news but it's probably wiser to wait for scans etc to reveal any other damage (ligament etc) 1
FoxesWalk Posted 5 August 2021 Posted 5 August 2021 Breaking only the fibula is actually surprisingly good news if that is truly the case. Fingers crossed for his ligaments on that scan...
Popular Post Jobyfox Posted 5 August 2021 Popular Post Posted 5 August 2021 I’m trying to be optimistic and hoping that Brendan doesn’t come out and say: “ ….. it’ll be a few weeks” That could put him out until Sept 2024. 7

Here is what else the dc wrote... Fofana just posted that he for sure has a fibula fracture with workup still ongoing. If he ONLY has a fibula fracture after all of this he would still have a decent chance to play this season. Will still need to hear word on possible tibia injury, ankle, and knee ligaments. That would be tremendously fortunate if it's an isolated fibula🙏
