Physically weak

We are such a soft team. 

 

Fielding Perez and Maddison against these was a glaring error. We don't have enough physicality and we don't have enough going forward when we play one up top and Maddison, Perez behind. KDH offers far more physically and athletically than Maddison and needs to be given a start in these games.

 

We've loved our Transfer Window and the return of KDH but will we actually get to see any of them play anything other than a bit part. I get the sense Brendan doesn't like change, even when it's obvious it's needed. 

 

Answers on a postcard but I think looking at Brendans choice for starting 11 and our injury issues at the back we are a long way from challenging for top 4.

I think West Ham are just a physical side but we didn't play today. Man City aren't a physical side but they are savvy and the best side in the league. We were too too naive today.

Last two games we just can't deal with big strong forwards, bet Antonio was watching Traore against our defenders.

I think it's more the attitude of the players after two games look like we're knackered and lacklustre. We also need to change way we play and stop this nonsense of passing the ball backwards and forwards around the middle of the pitch before returning to the keeper. We basically telling the other side we have no idea of what to do with the ball and we are no threat. It gets to the point where teams start to realise they have no thing to fear so might as well take risks and run at us.

Really don’t understand playing both Perez and Maddison against arguably the most physical side in the league. 
Starting with Soumare and Ndidi would of at least given us a better chance imo.

My guess would be that training for this game concentrated so much on Amartey not passing the ball to the opposition that he was instructed to pass backwards instead. That seems to have filtered throughout the side because the number of backward passes tonight was simply ridiculous.

Maddison starts when he is fit enough, a pattern I have noticed, for whatever reason he appears to be favoured by Rodgers.

 

He is a very soft weak player though, his plus points are in games we dominate, he might get us some goals and maybe few assists, but otherwise he goes missing.  I think I am ok with barnes going missing as he can be immense going forward, I dont have that confidence in Maddison.

Bertrand is pretty big for a LB as well. And Vestergaard is a giant.
