The Tent of Dreams

Everytime i see the design I can't help but think, nah won't happen.  Either they won't be able to get the funding, or they'll change the design,  Hope not, even though I'm not a fan of the design at least its something different and certainly will become a landmark, we rarely build anything like this in the UK, and that's probably why I think it'll end up being redesigned and we'll end up with some half arsed bowl.

Vital going forwards

we need to expand to grow as a club

Would be negligent to do this now.

It was negligent not to have done it earlier. 2017/18 with the club on a high and with pots of UCL cash in the bank was the time. Sadly, they built Seagrave first and everything since is well-written history.

Surely we should now be scaling down the number of seats in the KP?

Disagree massively bud

still needs doing and asap

we have lost the momentum we did have by not doing it

Only if the club drop the membership paywall and drop match by match prices, which they won't.

Otherwise we simply won't shift the tickets and rightly so, it's just too expensive.

We've just been through the worst sequence of results in our history - it's not that surprising that some people want to stay away at the moment. But it wasn't that long ago that the stadium was full every single game and there was a long waiting list for season tickets. If we start well next season, the stadium will be full again and if we get promoted back to the PL, we'll definitely have more demand for tickets than the KP can currently match. If we have any long-term ambition at all, we'll look beyond our current miserable form and build the extension - otherwise other clubs that ARE expanding their grounds will overtake us and leave us behind.

Exactly this.

I’m not sure they want to pull the trigger on it.

Maybe they’ve realised that we’re a bit of a money well.

Much cheaper to get European Football in Belgium with OHL.

For the first time in how long? This season been beyond shit.

Pretty sure we've averaged 99.9% sell out for i don't know how many seasons prior.

Everyone will come flooding back when we're doing half decent again.

I guess the balance is finding what we theoretically could fill.

I think I’ve mentioned this before, however they should have built an analytical model that indicates how we maximise revenue / profit on a match day.

This should show the optimum ticket price to fill the stadium ti a point where we get a footfall that purchases “tat” and “average football food”  from the shop / stores as well. It’s more than just the ticket price.

Leeds planning to expand to 56k with planning going in the next few weeks

Feel like we really missed the boat on this

Tbf, Leeds is a big ‘one club city’ - possibly the largest in the country

they’ll pull in 45/50k comfortably

a good 10k  more than us even if both clubs are in the PL

If we have more seats then we have more season tickets available. Thus those that currently can't afford to be regulars due to extortionate match ticket prices will be priced in.

I can't see what the issue is with having empty seats whilst the football pendulum swings downwards, as it historically always has with our club.

I thought their original plan was to keep season tickets fixed at their current level and sell more matchday tickets with the expansion?

We need to do it anyway because the best time was 5 years ago, let alone now. We have a generation of city fans missing out through inertia.

In 20 years time, membership policies, pricing etc of today don’t matter.

Too doesn’t have the drive, nous or the ability to see this through so it’s another reason he has to go.

Biggest one city club and in the biggest county too.

This is why I never get the hype with them selling out away ends everywhere.

The people that have made a capacity increase unnecessary are and will be here making the same mistakes and taking the club further backwards.

Unless the people ****ing the club over leave then a bigger ground will not be required.

What is wanna know is. Why have other team been able to do there plans and build or start to build before we have even done anything with our plans.

Surely makes sense to get it done when attendance is the lowest it has been a while, gives scope for a reduction in possible attendance, and if we do well and when people flood back, creates a demand for tickets which would probably then lead to an increase in sales when availability does return

I always said I never thought this was an actual thing.  Just a little bone to throw to the fans.  It's never looked or felt like a genuine proposal to me.  All the extra bits just seemed thrown in to try and delay/eventually cancel the project.

The sad reality is that the club had a GENERATIONAL opportunity to turn us in to one of the countries elite clubs and possibly one of the biggest hipster clubs in the world because of our story.

That opportunity has been completely pissed up the wall and we are going back to exactly where we started.

The only hope we have is King Power putting us up for sale while the memory of our glory is relatively fresh.  Hopefully that will attract a big fish who can right Top's wrongs.
