Chelsea are a far better side than us, but the fact 10 of our players had an off day made the gulf look ridiculous.

Listening to BR on Radio Leicester he sounded like a man struggling to come up with any valid excuses.  Is his and the team’s performance being seriously affected by all this Manure speculation?  I think the board should ask him what his intentions are re LCFC.  There is no way we should stand in his way if his heart is not with our Club. If he says he would take the Manure job if offered, then the Board should come out with a statement along the lines of LCFC will not stand in the way of any Management Team if they wish to move, subject to LCFC being compensated correctly. Get this elephant in the room sorted and then get on with finding a replacement or leave BR to sort out the current crappy form.

Losing to the team top of the league is one thing. But not turning up and making the same mistakes week in week out to the point it's becoming comical is another. Following City is such a chore at the moment and it's felt from start to finish on matchday's and I hate that I feel that way.

Not because I have ridiculous expectations, it's that our style of play is just that painful to watch unless we dominate a team (which has happened about once in twenty games)

Irrespective of how good Chelsea were, the quality of our play was outrageously bad in all areas today. Defending, tackling, passing,  everything.

Not one player is currently performing to standard. Nor is the manager, who has definitely lost the plot. Constantly chopping and changing personnel, formations and tactics has created confidence-shattering chaos. The rot has set in, and these next two games have to be won to rescue a desperately disappointing season.

Well that was proper garbage. I have thought for a longtime BR has a) lost the team or b) ran out of ideas . When did we last look superb? Here in Spain my other team play our big local derby tomorrow in la liga 3 we are 3 miles apart and there will be more commitment I guarantee all for about €300 a week .

Conceding goals from corners and allowing their midfielders to run through us unchecked?

...I think a clear the air meeting is required as soon as possible!!!

All coaching staff and manager out of the room and the players have a discussion as to what they feel is wrong. We do have big personalities in this team, so it is important that everyone has a voice. You could envisage that someone like Kante would not have pushed himself to the fore and the quiet ones are sometimes the deepest thinkers.

  We need some home truths!

Soumare was poor today, just didn't seem to get the pace of the game

...he needs to be demanding the ball off the defence and transition the ball by bringing it out himself!!!

He needs to know his job is to run this team, but he is getting mixed messages from Rodgers with the different variations he has been asked to play. Letting Ndidi patrol in front of the defence and having Tielemans (when fit) creating is what should be happening. Playing Ndidi and Soumare side by side, defeats both players strengths and once again Rodgers does not see that.

Soumare for me is definitely the key in all this, and the sooner he can get to grip with his role, free from any of Rodgers interpretations the better.

Too many players post the age of 30, Vardy, Evans, Albrigton and KS need to be replaced and replaced before it’s too late.

Too many in the squad that are ok at best but no where near the quality to seriously challenge for a top 5-6 finish.

This squad has reached the end of its cycle, there needs to be a massive cull of senior players and some serious questions about the realistic quality of many of the younger in the squad.

You witnessed today for Chelsea a 37 year old who still had that hunger, that ambition to be honest he rarely looked exposed for pace and the energy that the likes of James and Chillwell displayed should be the sort of levels that some Leicester players can only dream of.

Lets set something out at the outset. This was not our acid test. We were playing a team that have very different ambitions to ourselves.

For me, there are two extremely obvious narratives. Firstly. How far as a team we've fallen in the space of time Tuchel has taken over Chelsea. Secondly, what a top manager can change in a team.

Honestly, how far were we behind them today? Ironically, it was the first match this season I've enjoyed watching. Certainly not from a Leicester view point. Same old from us really. But the quality, unity, fight, togetherness, familiarity, intent, attacking display Chelsea graced the KP with. I'm sure at some point, a long while ago, we played with such vigour. It's a faded, distant memory, but that was once us.

The finer detail. We are so horrendously unbalanced. Its been said post in post out on here. Why do we persist in playing through. We've a keeper that if his distribution doesn't cost us, will almost certainly put us bang under pressure. We've two of three centre backs that are fundamentally centre backs. They are not ball carriers. They aren't ball playing defenders. The other, Cags, horrifically out of form, and is making Big Dan look like Pirlo with his passing ability currently. Wing backs that aren't wingbacks. It makes them look poor players. They're not. But being asked to play a role that doesn't suit will have this impact. We've a midfield today that is defence first. Zero creativity. Zero impetus. And to me, look limited in their ability. For what is perceived to be a "strength in depth" area of ours. God help us. Our only ray of light, can't get into the game due to the lack of service. Summarising we're playing a formation that highlights the weaknesses in every player. Square pegs in round holes is the only phrase that comes to mind.

Set pieces. Questioned this before. As have 100's of others. I've read we have a set piece coach on here somewhere... Can we get any worse? Useless.

Madders has to start. Yes out of form. But has more creativity even out of form that the entire team put together. He speeds up our play. Looks to create space.

Soumare. My god. One paced. Which is slow. In a battle, he looks great. Composure in situations, strong. How long does it take a player to pick the pace up of a league?

Can we pick a formation, learn it, familiarise ourselves with it, understand it and play it. Week in week out. Man City. Chelsea. Liverpool. West Ham. Even Everton to a lesser extent. Utd and us. Both hopelessly out of form. Are the two "bigger" teams that do not look like they have a scooby managing a game and roles. No coincidence here.

The only three highlights that can be taken from this for me.

Big Dan - What a strike. Where did that come from?! Followed up a couple of minutes later by a ill timed back heel back into our box. What a player. Secondly, seeing Ngolo again makes you appreciate the quality he is. And how blessed we were to have him for a season. Sheer brilliance. Worth the admission money alone. Finally, I see Watford are 2-0 up. Ole surely won't survive a defeat there. Door open.

I've said in other posts that Brendan's time is up. When was the last game that collectively as a team, we've played well? It certainly hasn't been this season. FA Cup maybe? Before that in the league? For the squad we've amassed, and progress we've made, this can't continue.

Great post!

your last question, is what bothered me last season. I cannot remember  the last time we played genuinely well, to the point where we have dominated teams. Maybe late 2020?

Even in the FA cup final, I thought we were lucky at times.

Why are people whinging about the line up when all week the same people had been sarcastically whining that they expect Madders to play because he’s Rodgers love child and that we should set up to counter attack.

So madders didn’t and we did with the front 3 set for fast breaks so typically Rodgers is called out for not playing Madders but playing Barnes & Lookman, jeez guys n gals make ya minds up

.....as usual the 3 at the back leaves us open  to the wide channels behind our Wingbacks being exposed!!!

I am not a fan of a back three but a flat back five would have served us better.

With Tielemans out, you would have expected Maddison to have come in to give us some kind of creativity, it was for me the obvious ploy but Rodgers sought to overcomplicate the situation.

Prior to the game I was advocating a 4-3-1-2, with Maddison behind a front two and KDH making up the three in midfield, we were out gunned in the midfield today and their defence had a day off.

Why would United want Roger’s as manager. Our football is worse then what We served up under Puel. It’s killing us

We cant defend infact we seem to be getting worse at it not only that but set pieces are a joke and have only gotten worse over the 3 years if anything,

he's a good manager but surely it's plain to see he's not a top manager if he goes to man u it'll be a car crash.

I have expunged the hurt by going through the post match therapy of listening to Rodgers/pundits and Radio Leicester.  I think Joe Cole summed it up when he said "something is missing at Leicester, but he can't quite put his finger on it".  I don't think there is an easy answer, or Rodgers would have rectified it.  Yes the Zonal marking needs to go, but I think our problems run much deeper and there is no confidence in our play!

Schmeichel should either give up the captaincy or start to lead by example which all captains should do.

Sorry to hear Rodgers couldn't understand the jeering at halftime, after that hogwash what did he expect?

The fact of the matter is Leicester City are poor and on a downward trend, something that needs to be corrected sooner rather than later.

We should never have sold Kante

Had no choice....there was a buy-out clause in his contract.  End of.

Well confidence for one thing. But when things aren't working out for you you have to knuckle down and put in some effort and basically try to put in some tackles anything to get the crowd going a bit.

We're far too passive, move the ball too slowly and frankly don't look like we're putting in enough effort. We lack fighters and leaders on the pitch in too many positions.

I'd say though that right now the real issue on the pitch is in midfield. Ndidi looks like he's already at another club, Soumare simply isn't the required standard and without Tielemans we have no one of the required quality from a constructive point of view. The back up players simply aren't anywhere near the required standard. As a unit the midfield also provides little in the way of protection to a struggling defence.

Add to that players like Ricardo who is a pale shadow of the player pre-injury. Castagne seldom has a top level game unlike when he first arrived at the club. Barnes looks more like a lower Championship player right now and Lookman never has been and probably never will be quite good enough for the top half of the Premier League which is why his career trajectory has been what it is.

You're right that there is no easy answer though.  Would help if we could do the basics of defending set pieces as a start but the troubles run deeper than that.

On defending set pieces, what the Fock has the very tall Benkovic done not to be given a chance? He was the next VVD 3 years ago.
