Can I also say Thomas was much better defensively compared to Bertrand the previous game.

Overall the team played much better defensively although Soyuncu was still giving me worrying moments while Castagne nearly scored an own goal.

I think we still set up zonally at times. We had 4 players in the 6-yard box for one of their corners towards the end of the game.

The players who were playing zonal weren't our best in the air.

Our bigger players were marking their danger men whilst the rest went zonal.

Some sort of half and half.

CBs looked like they were man marking rather than zonally marking. Other players were zonal marking.

Perhaps I was just watching what I wanted to see lol. I will take another look at it later.

I noticed this. It was probably the same corner towards the end.

In the line of 4 Daka was at the front post (in place of Vardy) with Ndidi, Soumare, and then Castagne at the back.

Most noticeable was that Soyuncu was at the edge of the box man marking one of their runners. Whilst the runner did actually get to the ball crossed over, Soyuncu stayed tight and prevented him from getting a clean header.

So we have found the reason for our crap defence, it was all evans fault, should have dropped him weeks ago . Lol 😝🤪👍

Tbf he hasn't been himself this season either no way you can be this half injured all the time and it not effect you.

My dead dad could do better than Bertrand previous game.

But yes, some of the younger players are starting to shine at the minute.

True, but he still managed to bag us a couple of goals. Hats off to the man.

And according to the BBC man of the match ratings, McAteer had an absolute blinder lol

A big improvement from what we have seen recently albeit against Newcastle.

A long way from masking the horror show this season has been thus far though.

What’s wrong with saying:

a. We played really really well

b. And Newcastle are a very poor side

?

both statements being completely true

The second half was loads better. We were more direct took more risk in the passes we played and tried for the most part to go at them. We're loads better playing on the front foot.

Newcastle are absolutley going down though. They're the worst side I can recall coming to our place since promotion. Really really bad. Saint-Maximin is decent though. Looked a very frustrated bloke.

I think our energy levels, given a demoralising evening on Thursday, were extraordinary. Huge commitment and fitness.

I hope when we next lose posters will try and avoid saying ‘we didn’t look bothered’, or ‘they’re not playing for Brendan.’ We may be struggling for form and confidence, but effort is not the problem.

i hope this result has shut up the brainless donkeys that want B R out. :@

Sadly this great result proves absolutely nothing about Rodgers,  this team self selected due to illness and it could be argued that it points to BR being the problem due to his poor tactics and unwillingness to see what's obvious to others (formation, style of play, Perez).

Next test is another pony team albeit not quite down to the depths of the dreadful toon - if of course either club can muster a side!

Btw not a sack him now "donkey" but def in the "have a good moan at him camp"- cos i care.

Sheff United and West Brom last season miles worse than Newcastle today. Which says something as Newcastle were dreadful.

Right I've slept on this so no reactionary posts, great result against a poor Newcastle.

Positives:

a. Clean sheet

b. All the players played well, Youri had a good game.

c. Didnt see Brendan's notebook once.

Negatives:

a. None, for now, let's enjoy the moment.

ASM was / is Newcastle best player, his skill on the ball is refreshing to see.

Well done Leicester let's keep this positivity going.

According to MOTD the attendance was 31959. Got to be joking, hundreds of empty seats. Not surprised as most sensible people were Xmas shopping.

We had a fair few seats around us empty, ST holders. Given the recent spike it’s very likely some fans would have been isolating. I know of one family who drink in our local.

I've noticed how our forward play is now gravitating to the left. With Thomas and Barnes having that instinct for attacking interplay, it's natural that KDH is drawn to feeding the ball out there. Maddison is also finding opportunities from this source.

In fact, didn't all three open-play goals originate  from the left?

I suspect that BR, as with Perez and Maddison, sees Bertrand as a straightforward swap option with Thomas. Bertrand's display at Napoli demonstrated otherwise. Had BR made the optimum choice of Thomas as starter, then the result just might have been different - positively.

Rodgers now has, once again, the problem of how to deal with Jonny Evans absence. Does he bring Amartey in or stick with the N'Didi/Soumare option?

Good to see the sideline communication going on  between Rodgers and Madders. Madders seems to be on a high again.

There is no reason to play Bertrand over Thomas. Ever.

I've watched a few halves of football this year where you could've stuck the team in a Sunday League game and they wouldn't have looked out of place. Watford against Liverpool for example - they genuinely just weren't trying. Honourable mentions for us against Warsaw/West Ham/Chelsea/Arsenal, but would say Newcastle's second half yesterday was about as bad as I've seen.

I washed my bed sheets twice on Saturday night.  (Not because I'm a clean freak; because my wife is away and I don't understand how the washing machine works).

By doing so, I'm convinced that I channelled positive energy to the KP which delivered our 2nd clean sheet of the season.
You're welcome, lads.

So even when we play well it's because the opposition are dreadful?

Weve become the most entitled bunch of fans I've ever seen.
