Reality check

If you are referring to today's game and today's game alone then I agree with you. However, we are in the top half of the table despite having played poorly in almost every game. It makes you wonder what we could achieve if we were to actually play well on even just a handful of games. In terms of our current league position, I think we are underachieving, though not massively. Finishing third in that Europa League group however was unforgivable, especially given how shit two of the sides in our group were.

Maybe so but how can you blame him....90% of injuries are during games so maybe I am missing your point mate

Maybe by playing players too early before full recovery, or letting them carry on while injured or too much training I don’t know but it’s rather odd  that it happens a lot

Get what your saying but the tea ladies would need to bring their boots this season

I’m wondering how bad Benkovic must be to not get a game lol

Laughing at those saying we are top 6 after two seasons of top six finishes and a fa cup win is a little silly. Indifferent season but we aren’t far off still even with all the injuries. Add in the fact we have spent 100m on a new training ground and looking to expand the stadium further.

We’ve been told to dream and expect by the club for years now and when things stray from their upward trajectory you always get fans really keen to put us back in our box.

It’s deeply weird to me. Why shouldn’t we expect better when we’ve won the league, the FA Cup, the Community Shield, finished 5th twice and made the Champions League quarter finals in the last 5 years?

I’m sick of posts and attitudes like this.

It is a ****ing myth that we’re this poxy mid table side…. We’re not. We are operating on a more than modest budget, we’ve signed some of the best young players in football and we’ve invested heavily in a state of the art training ground and are expanding the stadium area to rival any in the league.

The reality check is, we’re having a rancid season, and Brendan Rodgers is largely responsible.

I have to agree, we are a fantastic team when fully fit, can't blame rodgers for the injuries, I know alot of fans want rodgers out but who would we seriously get in to replace him? Weve had two great seasons before this although we did just miss out on the top 4, but we also won the fa cup and community shield, I'd let him off this season tbh and give him the benefit of the doubt. I believe we will come good again under rodgers. Up the foxes!!

Calm down mate, i agree but injury wise this season has been horrific and u can't blame rodgers for that!

We’re having an off season, one where we’re not improving which is the first time in a few seasons. But it’s not the end of the world. People need to get over it a bit, it is what it is, go again next season.

I feel sure that an individual's susceptibility to serious injury is to some extent determined by the sort of physical training they do to build up their soft tissue strength, flexibility and resistance.  You can't ignore the poor record Rodgers has for managing injuries badly (at the very least, it's easily observable that he brings players back from injury and all too often they immediately get injured again, supporting the view that he has a tendency for bringing them back too early or insufficiently prepared).  He also frequently gives injury updates that are wildly optimistic, which suggests he is not well advised on the subject at all.

And is Nelson really too young to be thrown in when we are critically short of competent defenders?

We can't afford an off season. Our better players want to be playing in Europe and we won't be able to attract the players we want by finishing 12th. We have to keep improving.

The injuries are crushing us now there is no doubt about it and the two replacements brought are simply not good enough.

Rodgers could have done better as well in various areas, he makes some baffling decisions at times.

We are on the cusp of blowing up with AFCON, we need some major defensive loans or purchases in January we can't rely on players coming back as we have seen with Ricardo.

We have quality in attack and can score goals for fun when we want... the defence is critical though.

Can't we get Praet back?

It would be great to get Dennis back!

Hasn't our physio got enough on his plate at the moment?

😆 true! I think he is out with a muscular injury at the moment anyway but, it's hindsight i know, he would be playing the game time he wanted!

Yeah but it ain’t happening this year so we’d better get over it now and start preparing for next year.

You could say you have been allowed to dream and your dreams have come true. Fa cup, champions of England, European football

There's a reason why the teams with the best/biggest squads are either at the top of the table, or heading there after an indifferent start.  Only West Ham is in amongst them so far...  Although we've been able to do okay with a good first team so far, over the past few seasons, our lack of depth, along with most of the sides in the EPL, is being exposed, now.

Not agree.  We have enough talented defenders but there all injured 😫😫

We had the 2nd worst defence of conceding goals from set pieces last season

This season so far the worst, what’s that tell you?

No team can consistently challenge to the top 6 every year, simply because nobody has close to the funding they do. Even the top 6 clubs get it wrong sometimes and spend periods of time out of the top 6 and Europe.

Some teams have challenged them, us, wolves and west ham mostly in recent seasons but we all have our off seasons, and that’s what we’re having atm. It’s not the end of the world. We’ll have a reshuffle in the summer and try again.
