Would love to see him come through without that natural flair being coached out of him. The modern game is all about systems, shapes and lines and sometimes I think those with the kind of ability he has get shackled.

Maddison has retained it to a certain degree. I think he'll polish it up and know when and when not to do it.

His balance when dribbling is literally Messi like. Obviously I don’t think he’ll end up being that good but jeez what a platform of skills to build from.

How's he not being absolutely brown nosed by the various England youth age groups? He's had a few call ups here and there when much younger but it's astonishing how good he is going to be. It is amusing knowing we have unreal talent and others haven't a clue, in a similar fashion was the same for a few months with Kante before peopke suddenly realised we have a phenomenon and we knew we had a serious talent in Harvey Barnes but he'd not had the hype machine that English talent get when coming through the age groups at the usual suspects.

Hopefully he's kept enough out of the watching eyes of bigger clubs until at least May when we get him on his first pro deal and follow it up with a 5 year deal the year after.

He's made me be excited to be a Leicester fan again this season and he's not even in the first team (yet) 😂

He needs to learn how to pass

U23's having zero strikers doesn't help. As @moore_94 said, his greediness wasted a lot of Everton's time as well. Had you watched him last friday in the FA Youth Cup, he was the perfect blend of flair and team play. Created so much for others.

He's ridiculous. It's like i'm watching a 90's computer game where the ball is stuck to the players feet and you can move from side to side / round and round and the defenders can't touch you. Only, its real life. Used that to close out the game too. Class.

I am fully confident that by 19 we'll have knocked out any natural flair from the lad and have him tracking back with runners and playing sideways and backward five yard passes!

It's always a concern, but you'd think of all clubs we'd know how important it is to make the most of that natural ability. When we won the league it was mostly due to Kante, Mahrez and Vardy - all three played at a low level into their early 20's and didn't have any of their natural play coached out of them.

Almost certainly be an entirely different coaching team by then who may have other ideas.

....for Alves the honeymoon period might just be over and his reputation will have alerted a few teams!!!

The cynical approach would be to see how he deals with being kicked about. Reading his game and knowing his tendencies.

It is how he deals with being a known threat and the way other teams will seek to quieten him that is going to dictates how he improves.

Watching Karamoko Dembele, he was exiting at 13, and it was a big deal coming on in an U20s game at such a young age. His size for me held him back, and not being able to keep pushing up the levels has left him behind other academy players at Celtic.

Alves has no problems with strength or size, he is very hard to push off the ball and he will naturally gain the physicality in time.

Just  getting the balance with his level and placements (out on loan or coming through the academy) of where he should be, in order for him to progress, is going to be our next problem, we need to get that right.

The thing that will really help Alves is that he looks like he has that little burst of acceleration to make the most of the space he makes for himself with the fast footwork.

Yeah, he's very quick which for an ACM is lethal.

That his best position? Can do both wings too can’t he? Buzzing for Brendan to turn him into a wingback :giggle:

His best position is basically a free role 😂

His ability on the ball will always be to his benefit.  Just has to learn how and when to use it to control the speed of the game. Fun to watch a diamond get polished.
