I'm pretty sure we have an option we will trigger after the window but then a low release clause comes into play so he'll go in January.

Who is going to spend 30 million for one season of this guy?

It's a laughable amount.

No one

but they might spend £20m - and it wouldn’t be a whole 20 because his s/o fee compared to next summer will be at least halved if he doesn’t go on a free

Cash in now or lose him for nothing. Player loans still possible after the window closes.

If he's off, let him go. We absolutely won't get Europe next season, so might as well take the hit, knowing we need a bit of a rebuild.

Bring in someone on loan to cover the space - Gallagher? Then you've not committed to anything and new manager can get to start with a decent pot of cash and space in the squad.

Depends on which club is offering the money. If a club like Newcastle or lower wanted him, they would need to get him this window and might be prepared to offer a higher amount. Next summer when he is free, a bigger club like Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs would take him.

Hope he stays, plays his heart out for the move, and gets us up the table in the process.

Then he can leave for nothing hopefully to a huge club with our best wishes. Mutually beneficial and would be the best outcome now I think.

Mikel Arteta has only two fit central midfielders for the next few weeks after the injury to Mohamed Elneny, with the situation threatening to undermine what has been a perfect start to the season so far.

The manager said they are “looking at options in the market” after the 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Wednesday, but The Independent has been told that they already had a move for Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans rebuffed.

They haven't.
