Devonfox1884 Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 Fuming if that’s true. If it is, as it stands our squad is weaker than last season. But I suppose it’s only one source. 1

I wonder if the market is not what it was in the middle-range of signings. Torino wouldn't trigger Praet's option, and they wanted to build the team around him, according to reports! It could be we just see him as worth 9 million for his role, especially if we have a RW lined up. For example, if we signed both Charley and Noni, we might think Lookman wouldn't be getting that much playing time anyway. I would still like us to sign him in the end, though. 1
Wolfox Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 Shame…. I thought he was worth the money personally He had a good season 1
Shane Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 15m could be a decent chunk of our budget, especially if we end up keeping Tielemans
CrispinLA in Texas Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 Palace or Forest could snap him up for 15m.....both clubs young up and coming talented players
sylofox Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 We have a bloated squad as it is. Adding a none starter is why we are in this position. We need a right winger first. 2
CloudFox Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 This better not be true. Agree with others - our squad is weaker without him. He's the only other left winger we have/had in the squad aside from Barnes.
foxinsocks Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 Shocking news. Can we organise a demo? What has the ckub said?
Dahnsouff Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 Wow, he should be so far down the shopping list it’s untrue. This is no reflection on him as a player, but on our needs, as we need 2-3 first teamers and not more squad players to add bloat we cannot sustain. 4

We have one left winger in the squad without him. 2 minutes ago, rachhere said: We have Perez and Albrighton who play on the right, and only Harvey on the left. Right winger is very important to get right, but we already know we have a decent left winger in Lookman, who knows the squad. I kind of find it disrespectful to him that people don't think this is more of a no-brainer. 3

Left wing was the only position where we don't have a backup at present. Unless we want Madders in there again... 2

Guest Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 I'm choosing to interpret that as meaning we've decided not to take up whatever the permanent option in the loan deal was, not that we've abandoned altogether the idea of signing him 4
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 30 June 2022 Popular Post Posted 30 June 2022 This has far reaching consequences if we are aiming to bring in some players on loan with options to buy, we've proven that we have very little intent in making them permanent signings regardless of how well we do and players will be cautious of that. It's fine if we go for players where it's agreed there's no real intent for a permanent transfer down the line but I do think this is a mistake on Lookman. 6
Bordersfox Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 Whilst there is little place for sentiment in modern sport I hope this isn't true and if it is I feel sorry for the lad. He must be wondering what he needs to do to get a permanent home. 1
lcfcsnow Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 It's not really a surprise, he hardly featured in the last 5-6 weeks of the season.
Finn Claw II Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 I think we just want to trim before signing players. I like Lookman but we really have a bloated squad. the problem is that if we can’t shed some dross then we are left with the same squad
Angus Scott Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 Barnes was average at best for most of last season. To not have any competition for his position would be a major mistake. Also Lookman has far more to offer than Perez or Albrighton
coolhandfox Posted 30 June 2022 Posted 30 June 2022 Why pay 15m when you can haggle and get him cheaper. We have to do what other clubs do to us and play hardball. 2

No good playing hard ball and telling sources you are still going to buy him. But we have to be realistic a back up LW is going to be 4 or 5 on our shopping list. 2
