Anybody got any Arsenal team news?

Have they picked up any injuries or given out any mega contracts lately so got players too busy counting how many cars they have to play?

the Arsenal  team news  , as you have already alluded, is that they are full of overpaid di*ks who think they're better than they are. Although Saka is OK ,how Xhaka is a premiership player,  let alone an international, will remain  a mystery . (Not sure any of this is news)

I don’t get the calls for Daka and Nacho in a 2.

Our most in form attacking players right now are Maddison Barnes and Albrighton.

Why neuter your in form wide men and/or number 10 to facilitate more out of form players?

I tend to agree, but maybe rather than start with them both but look to change to that in the 2nd half if needs be. Around Xmas we started playing the diamond and did look quite good with it and Daka and Iheanacho together are a bigger threat than on their own.

Right now though 4-3-3 is working and depending on whether we want to lead a high press then Daka should start or look to counter with Iheanacho dropping deep and Barnes and Lookman running on is the right play. We are building momentum.

Tomiyasu is a doubt. Fully squad other than that

Can’t bring myself to rep that as it leaves out Barnes and he’s in such good form u less I’ve missed something and he’s injured?

Well, I didn’t think he was that great against Rennes, brilliant against leeds but I’d like to see Daka & Iheanacho play as a pair..

....not injured (or not as far as I know), if we need to incorporate a front two then we lose a regular starter!!!

In a 4-3-3 we either lose Maddison or Tielemans, in a diamond (4-4-2) we lose the wingers. Not all games requires us to continually play the same formation, not all games are the same.

Ramsdale was superb in the home fixture. As has been mentioned Tomiyasu is out but Soares, White, Gabriel and Tierney are a solid back four.

(I think Smith-Rowe is also out due to covid).

Arsenal seem to have a different mentality now purged of the toxicity of Aubameyang. Currently on a higher level than us and will be buoyed by the fact that four teams around them are playing each other at the weekend in addition to the damage to Chelsea's campaign.  No expectations from this, but then with city, you learn to expect the unexpected.

Amazing isn't it?. I'd presume 0-1 injuries is very unusual for this stage of the season. 2-5 injuries at this stage is, I'd guess, the norm.

We've had between 6 - 16 out all season. Extraordinary.

Not to bothered about this. Our fit first 11 is a match for theirs.  Ours is not available and next Thursday is more important in the scheme of things.  Cannot wait for their post match dressing room picture to appear on Twitter.

Not going to risk playing Daka and Nacho together. If, knowing our luck, they both picked up knocks we would have no strikers with Vardy still out for a couple of weeks.

Wont happen but it would give them a chance to prove what they can do together.

Even if they bang heads, we have players who could adapt for a week or two, Madders and Barnes for example or blood Alves?

I would be inclined to rest and protect wingers and midfielders. Just let Patson and Kelechi go at it

The landlord of my local is an Arsenal fan and is incredibly smug with their current form.

Would love to order a pint and wind the t#at up a bit on Sunday evening 🙏🙏

I agree but I would hope we get stuck into them and make it really difficult . Their fan base can’t see why we’re even bothering without JV so I hope we **** them up a bit with whatever side BR puts out

Give me a trophy any day rather than some places up the Premier league. I completely agree. My point was that writing off the League has financial implications. Modern football is rubbish.

That sound like something Damon albarn might say 😂

Love to get a result against these but priority has to be Rennes on Thursday. Given our appalling injury record BR needn’t take chances over any player with concerns.

Every place in the Premier League is worth big money. A couple of extra places is worth more financially than winning the FA Cup.

Each position is only worth an extra £2m (or 2.5, i can't remember). The premier league merit-based prize money really isn't that lucrative in the grand scheme of things. Chances are we're going to finish between 8th-14th even if we take our foot off the gas in a couple of games (like Arsenal) to prioritise Europe, so at most we'll miss out on £12m.

If we do well in the ECL, we can net up to £12m extra this season plus a significant amount just for participating in the Europa league next season, before you even begin to consider prize money. Plus there's a huge non-monetary reward for getting European football again next season (more appealing in the transfer market) AND our name on a trophy.

No-one wants to see us play badly on purpose, but if it comes down to protecting certain players to maximise our chances in the ECL then I'm all for us rotating and fielding a slightly weaker side, whatever that may look like. Heck, even use it to blood in some more youth and see if they're ready for the step up yet, so its not a complete waste of a fixture.

....too many games for Albrighton, is probably getting in the red zone, the back four although having played for some time now, are not subjected to the same physicality as players infront of them!!!

Maddison definitely comes in, so should Mendy, Lookman on the left and perhaps Perez playing on the right, protecting the right back as I would suspect most of any attacks will be down our left hand side.

                                                      Kasper

                          Ricardo   Amartey    Soyuncu    Thomas

                                                   Mendy

                                   Maddison                 Soumare

                          Perez            Nacho                Lookman

Perez and Lookman have great work ethics, so they will help out the fullbacks and support the midfield. There are certain players in this team who are too much in the redzone, we need to manage them.

Assuming Ricardo can play, this is exactly the team I would go for as well. In theory Perez, Maddison and Lookman could all get close enough to Iheanacho to link up well with him, and Lookman/Perez at least have good defensive workrates, plus they have shown to have decent partnerships with Thomas/Ricardo. Mendy/Soumaré is the most questionable thing about it, but if either of Ndidi or Dewsbury-Hall gets injured for even 4 weeks that's our season over.

We can sub on the likes of Daka and Barnes, very potent attacking options from the bench.

Arsenal like to play down the wings and are quite effective with tierney martinelli and saka particularly dangerous. If we play the likes of barnes and lookman they have to help track but will also help give them cause to hold back a bit. I can see a mid match change formation change happening tomorrow. Brendan will have a plan.

I think the only way we go to a 2 up top is if we have 3 at the back, in the set-up that we finished last season. 2 up top without 3 at the back means losing KDH, Youri or Ndidi from the middle or dropping Barnes back to the bench. I just don't see him changing a winning formation/line-up.

....it is not about the strongest eleven, it is just common sense to limit the over use of our players!!!

KDH needs to come out, Youri not on form and started on Thursday, he should not be playing tomorrow.

Schmeichel

Justin Amartey Soyuncu Thomas

Choudhury

Maddison Soumare

Lookman Daka Barnes.

Emphasis very much on Thursday for me.
