I was there Christmas Day and it has got better……

I'll be there again in a few weeks, it's only 10 mins walk away for me too.

I'm waiting for an MRI scan to confirm if I have a meniscal tear on my left knee. Haven't run properly for 3 weeks and not well for 3 months (when I think I did it back in October on a cross country race).

Could be a long recovery at 54 years old 😳

Done my first 20km run today. Pleased I've done it but I think generally I prefer 10/15 max really. Actually annoyed because I didn't realise until I got back that a half marathon distance was only 1.1km more which I'd have done to hit that distance. Means I'll have to do it again one day now 😂

What does everyone do in terms of resistant training to assist them with their runs.

I use to do quite a bit of free weights etc. when I was younger but now I really enjoy running. Its the only form of excercise since I restarted that I enjoy doing. Go for runs now 4 sometimes 5 times a week. I'll walk into the gym and think, need to lift a bit and give up after 15 minutes and get on the treadmill - especially on the weekday.

I know that isnt the best and I should combine some weights etc. into it but the idea of 3 sets of 15 on any excercise  just doesnt excite me.

Anything anyone does as an alternative ?

I did that too last year. So annoying.

I’m similar, I used to only do weights (4-5 times a week) but since I got in to running I much prefer doing that. Now I aim to do one push and one pull weight session a week with the rest running. Doing that makes it easy to get those workouts in whilst still running a lot.

I have trx band and a couple of kettlebells that I do at home twice a week for about 45 mins.

Trx is a good bit of kit really, quite versatile

It's so tough to lace up your running shoes to go outside when it's this cold. But the reward feels amazing, can barely feel the cold after 1 or 2k.

I went last night around Whitwick and it was a genuine stupid decision.

Treacherous paths.

Loved it

Did 8 miles on a route that was way too icy yesterday and my left hip and hamstring are sore today, and it was only a slow run. Guess it's the slight overcompensation trying not slip over that's caused it...

Gave in and did an hour on the treadmill this morning instead...not a fan!

Out at six bells with the temperature at minus 7 near me this morning. :colder:

My facial hair was freezing stiff where I was puffing into it (maybe dribbling into it) lol

Quite a bit slower than usual, as it was a tad treacherous under foot.

After last Sunday's snowfall, tomorrow should hopefully see the resulting ice on the paths clear which means I can get back to it. I attempted a 5k earlier in the week which was done on the road around my estate. A combination of patches of black ice in shaded areas and pretty shitty and ignorant driving from my neighbours made it more risky than it was worth continuing with.

I’ve been looking into this and apparently good to train the legs individually I.e. Bulgarian split squats, I also include squats, hamstring curls etc, calf raises and usual leg exercises. Things like box jumps etc can help as well

I need to do some slow runs in my training but feel I don’t have time, don’t know how people can do 4-5 runs a week I’m struggling with 2/3 atm.

get Mallory park 10km out the way this weekend then I’ll probably download Runna and run with more of a structure

First run in just over 2 weeks. Blowing. Signed up for the Leicester 10k on 2nd March yesterday to give me a kick up the arse to lace my shoes up again.

That's just reminded me that I'm already signed up for the Big 10k (the one in Abbey Park) the following month.  Need to pull my finger out, I'd completely forgotten about that
