We we’re poor, and the referring was bad, but people in here need to get a grip.

It was a match, someone had to lose, someone had to win.

it was a tight European semi final, it was never going to be open attacking flowing play. Roma are more experienced and won it with a header.

All this ‘Rodgers and the players can fuch off’ needs to get in the bin

The only thing that needs to get in the bin is our fraud of a manager.

Yep that’s what he said. Would you expect anything else though?

Our fans are actually applauding the players. Why?

Utterly embarrassing.

They don't make the tactics and give a free goal away by putting Ricardo on Abraham at a corner on purpose, nobody told them to put a tall player on Abraham on each set piece which is schoolboy tactics. They didn't sign Soumare, Vestergaard, Bertrand, Perez, Praet. It wasn't a lack of effort I don't think so you can't slate the players. There just isn't enough quality in the squad, transfer business has been woeful and we can't defend set pieces. None of which are the players faults. They haven't downed tools. We should be much better than we are but we have wasted a fortune in poor recruitment and have obvious tactical errors.

Even with all that said I would probably keep Rodgers but insist that Toure goes and we get a proper defensive coach in and don't let him anywhere near recruitment unsupervised.

We know what the priority positions are but we also need to make sure we bring someone in who has excellent set piece delivery. Maddison is overated in his free kicks and corners and it makes no sense that we are so dependent on his delivery. With competition he may improve but at the moment it's poor. He scores the occasional free kick and has good technique so it masks all the times he underhits them.

It has gone so stale. Seems like the end of an era and time for a change.

Where has the beautiful slick, fast passing gone when we were beating teams with ease earlier in Rodgers reign?

A lot of players will be moving on in the summer I think. Time to bring someone new in to oversee the change needed.

I back BR. Always have. But that interview has pissed me off so much. He shows no passion, no anger, no nothing. Moyes got sent off tonight. I bet he was giving everything from the touch line. BR shows nothing. How can you not call the ref out after losing a semi-final in a game where the ref was absolutely atrocious?

to add to that - Moyes just called the ref out three times in his post match interview. The Westham fans will feel better about him than we do about BR tonight.

Spot on its like hes not bothered to say we played well second half is a joke we didnt create a single chance

I have nothing to offer but a low grade Barnes is shit comment. Can't bring myself to put anything of note or effort. Am so deflated. But I know i shouldn't be surprised we've gone out with a whimper

Keown spot on. Its not been a good season. Embarrassed in the fa cup. Knocked out of the europa. Been piss poor in the league and now completely shit ourselves in the biggest game of the season. Roll on August

BR post match:

Atmosphere was great

Second half we were better

Corners our Achilles heel

We lacked physicality

We dominated the game

We had opportunities

Players responded well second half

Its been a great journey

A lot of young players finding their level

Just missed out

Have to finish season strong

Seriously, that's what he said

Well we all knew young players would get a mention.

I wouldn’t have minded losing tonight if we would have played our hearts out but it’s almost like some were treating the game like a training game poor possession poor passing first touches were non existent, We were 2nd to almost everything tonight losing yet again to a set piece goal there was just No Fight tonight yes we can blame the ref I have on an earlier post but we need to give a good fight a good go at winning that was missing tonight a great run in Europe and we finish it off with a shower of Shi T show a damp squib performance definitely not one to be proud of ?!

I have a better idea than sacking Rogers. Sack you whingeing over privileged idiots who think a European semi final is a wasted season. Yeah we fell short tonight, not enough quality, but the players worked herd and the manager made changes to try to make it happen. Just p*ss off from supporting my club if that's not good enough for you, go and support Man United, you'll fit in perfectly with their fans.

Moyes got a red card for kicking a ball at a ball boy. Disgusting behaviour of a disgusting club with disgusting fans (who rioted by the way and attacked a german media crew last week). We nay be a soft touch but at least we are respectable.

The clamour to sack a Leicester City manager for a top half finish in the Premier League and losing a European semi-final is beyond embarassing. I get that it's disappointing. But keep Brendan, and without European football and with little Wes back for the full season we will very likely improve on this season next year and be competing for a European place in the league again, get rid of him and we could very easily end up with another appointment like Puel, or worse, and drag ourselves into an actually bad position.

It's bitterly disappointing and it obviously wasn't an inspiring night. I think it does in some ways bear similarities to Watford 9 years ago though - we had had a pretty terrible run and a disappointong semi-final defeat, and a ton of people insisting we should sack a manager whose overall performance, over the longer term, was positive. I genuinley think we would benefit hugely if Top ignores the knee-jerk reaction as we did then and perseveres with Brendan.

Optimist I see.

I disagree that we have longer term positive performances tbh, we have been inconsistent at best for 18 months ish now, the last time I had confidence in us was pre-January 2021.

I’m 50/50 on stay/go tbh, I don’t see who we would bring in to improve things drastically. I like Gasparini, but doubt we could get him, Potter maybe worth a gamble, but it’s a gamble.

One of the main bug bears is that we have the same problems over and over, and no solutions. Which implies he doesn’t know how to fix it.

As it turned out Roma didn't even have to bribe the ref .If there are any Rogers supporters still left out there could you please tell me why ? He stank the place out yet again with his slow negative brand of shite football. You could see how it was going to go within minutes. Who put Riccy to mark Abrahams on corners? Why wasn't Evans marking him? not once but even after he scored they got another corner and the same thing happened , though he missed that time. Rogers learns nothing and if we persist with this fraud into next season we are in for a relegation scrap. Come on Top get rid asp.

It was a mismatch that's for sure, and the difference with the two managers Jose had Smalling well drilled to mark Fofana on corners and stop him anyway he could , and he followed those instructions literally.

There's been serious issues at this club all season, which started last Summer when we signed a load of players who now don't get in the starting XI.

Then we had injuries, but these just papered over the cracks because that was arguably our best starting team playing tonight.

We lack vision, movement and creativity hence the continuous and predictable build up play.

Tielemans has been crap for large parts of the season that leaves Maddison as our main creative spark, but he's inconsistent.

Finally, our defending set pieces is sh1t, but arguably not as bad as they are going forward.

Maddison just doesn't strike the ball hard enough and lofts it into the box, which means the defenders have too much time and if by some miracle we do make first contact, then we can't generate any power.

I'm actually not saying I want Rodgers out, but he has to make the right moves this Summer.

If we persevere with Rogers we are going to be in big trouble. Especially if he's give the money to re-build.:dunno:

well there are a number of reasons for ppl wanting him gone, performances/tactics/results most of the season have been well below par then you get the waffle hes talking after matches saying we did excellent etc,

its like hes watched a different game, not to mention the fact.....weve worked on set plays but still keep letting goals in from them;

if performances and results dont improve now and through the start of next season he wont be here by xmas

Crap performance, crap season generally. But there’s no way that Top will sack Brendan after two previous top 5 finishes and a European semi final, plus the huge amount of compensation that would have to be paid. He’s here for the rebuild and into next season, like it or not.
