majaco Posted 19 September 2022 Posted 19 September 2022 It is rare that it is so clear that a player needs replacing in a team. 2
DennisNedry Posted 19 September 2022 Posted 19 September 2022 Maybe Rodgers doesn't want to risk bringing Iverson in and destroying his confidence as well? He'd come in, concede a shit load of goals because our defence is diabolical, and get slated too. 1 2

Who knows when but we would have picked up points Kasper was gone. Finished. Not the same keeper he has been. 1

Perez is a pointer for that, he got that so wrong and continued to use him in a way that did not suit his game. We were never going to going to get a RW while Rodgers attempted to cover up his mistake. Perez gets a lot of stick, but we got better results and played better football when he was in the team. He wasn’t the greatest, but did a job and didn’t deserve a lot of the flack he got. 10
Mickyblueeyes Posted 19 September 2022 Posted 19 September 2022 Is Iverson better ? Great against Stockport but if he isn’t, you really got to question how committed we are to staying up by not replacing our number 1. We go down with Ward - regardless who is manager. The last time we had a poor number 1 in this division - we sat bottom for most of the season. Such a key position. 1

majaco Posted 19 September 2022 Posted 19 September 2022 Iversen can't be worse. He was stand-out at Preston. That makes him at the very least nearly good enough for the Premier League. That's better than Ward. I almost feel sorry for Ward. Then I remember he has probably been paid over 6 million in wages by the club.

Popular Post Stuntman_Mike Posted 19 September 2022 Popular Post Posted 19 September 2022 Just watched the goals back from Saturday and it's safe to say he should do better for all of them. Not necessarily save them all but he might as well not have been there. He looks so weak, like when you watch soccer aid or something and it's a celeb in goal who just doesn't have the presence of an actual footballer. 5

Suggest you read up on that season. Our usual number 1 was injured for large parts of the season meaning our number 1 was either a very old Schwarzer or Hamer - neither started the next season so don’t know what you are on about. In fact our great escape began with Kasper back in goal. I get you might be the staunchest supporter of Ward but making up facts is quite stupid in the era of Google!!! edited to add exclamation marks for giggles. We've let a good PL goalkeeper leave and not even replaced him. Now ended up with two Championship goalkeepers.
themightyfin Posted 19 September 2022 Posted 19 September 2022 For his own sake he needs taking out the firing line.

Area88 Posted 19 September 2022 Posted 19 September 2022 He's on £20,000 a week. I say keep in the team for one more game to see if we can get our money's worth.

TJB-fox Posted 19 September 2022 Posted 19 September 2022 At this point you just feel sorry for him, get him out the team and out the firing line 2

Even Guardiola or Klopp won’t fix Ward. When he dives it’s like watching in slow motion. A manager can’t just “fix” that. He’s nowhere near PL level, a new manager isn’t going to magically teach him basic reaction times overnight.

No. Goalkeeper is the one position that isn't affected by the manager. His job is to just save the ball from going in the net. A manager's instructions doesn't limit him from doing that, but his ingrained lack of ability does. 1
