He missed the match against austria and hennessey did fine, so was sticked to by Page. Then Hennessey was heroic against Ukraine. Ward then wasted his chance to push Hennessey, by being shit every match😂 Summed up nicely. Ward was one of Eales' best players in the Euros so that gave me a false glimmer of hope for this season.
FoxesWalk Posted 23 September 2022 Posted 23 September 2022 Wayne Hennessy, reserve keeper at Forest, is ahead of Danny Ward in the pecking order for Wales… surely tells us what we already know… 1 1
Paninistickers Posted 23 September 2022 Posted 23 September 2022 It's largely pointless debating the rights or wrongs of his inclusion. Rodgers selected him in what may have been a fit of pique (having been blocked from replacing Kapser) and Rodgers' character seems to have a preference for belligerently sticking to a position rather than admitting he was wrong.

Ward was injured and missed vs Austria (WC playoff SF), Hennessey replaced him and played well, then Page sticked to him vs Ukraine, and he became the hero. No way back for Ward then(his calamitous performance in the club just further smashed his chance to compete with Hennessey).

Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 23 September 2022 Posted 23 September 2022 Pope and Henderson both went to teams for a price we could have easily afforded. It's galling. Get iverson between the sticks now before it's too late. 1

Yes we got a dire defense, but ffs people keep saying we have the worst keeper in the premier league, I think it's expands much farther than just the PL. We could play with a bucket of pigshit as a goalie and still concede less goals. 2 1
ithuriel Posted 24 September 2022 Posted 24 September 2022 After some thought, if Brendan insists on playing him, we should play him up front because he is so dangerous in the penalty area and put Iverson in at the other end 1
orangecity23 Posted 24 September 2022 Posted 24 September 2022 Thing is, not only was Iversen first choice for a Championship team last year, but so was Alex Smithies for Cardiff. Given that Ward has only ever been number 1 in the Championship for a short time several years ago, I don't see any compelling case for him to be an undisputed first choice compared to either of them. With his current appalling form, he needs dropping, there's 2 oher keepers who have a decent recent track record that deserve a shot ahead of him at the present time. 4
Jimmy Posted 24 September 2022 Posted 24 September 2022 in Friday's mercury they said Rodgers was finally having a rethink
Mike1983 Posted 24 September 2022 Posted 24 September 2022 Keeping Ward as your goalkeeper is like putting your plumber in charge of your open-heart surgery. 1
blueharmie Posted 24 September 2022 Posted 24 September 2022 Would the nobbers who thought this mug was better than Kasper please reply here. This toss pot is one of the reasons we are going down. 3
Aleksz Posted 24 September 2022 Posted 24 September 2022 He’s just not a number one at this level. I’m sure if this was a case of still having Kasper and Ward playing a game here and there he’d look adequate. He’s just not good enough to rely on week in week out. Rodgers or not, Iversen has to play against Forest, because he might just grasp the opportunity with both hands instead of diving out of the way of it like Ward

He's awful in all regards. He bottles under pressure. A very Rodgers player

This toss pot is one of the reasons we are going down. Happy to stick my neck out and admit I thought he would command his area better. I'm also happy admit I was wrong. Well, not happy because we're still absolutely garbage at defending set pieces. I never thought he'd be a better shot stopper though. Kasper was just incredible in that regard. And we really miss Kasper's leadership. It's time for Iversen for sure. 1
cruzFOX Posted 25 September 2022 Posted 25 September 2022 Let’s be honest if kasper wasn’t ageing, sticking to his line, ball distribution getting worse I mean peak kasper there is no way in hell Ward would be anywhere near no. 1 spot. His opportunity came as a matter of some dire circumstances which we all know. It’s wishful thinking that our coaches seem to think he will magically become world class. We’ve seen his level and it’s sadly not good enough especially at a critical time where we really need him to be world class to keep us in these games. time to drop him and give Iverson a chance. It can’t get any worse surely? question is does Rogers drop him before or after the forest game? There’s an element of risk for both goalies given the high stakes/high pressure game that it is!
Popular Post fuchsntf Posted 25 September 2022 Popular Post Posted 25 September 2022 I will not berate or demean Ward... He doesn't deserve that..he just hasn't taken his big chance..Rodgers/any manager must see that... No last chances.but he also hasn't been so bad has some will have...! Iverson must now step in and show what he can...must now do... This is going to need, P.Shilton type of heroics...!! 5
Mike Oxlong Posted 25 September 2022 Posted 25 September 2022 On present form Danny would be better suited to keeping bees than goal
fuchsntf Posted 25 September 2022 Posted 25 September 2022 Amazing really..one thing one would expect...some support & encouragement for Danny Ward, which he didn't get from home fans, from the start... So they too failing in their duties..??? Rodgers,Top go missing, where are the fans...??? 1
foxinsocks Posted 25 September 2022 Posted 25 September 2022 Poor danny - rodgers keeps him in a a whipping boy. Yet the truth is that danny is not a pl keeper -= why torture him more?

Off of the park may be a different thing, but then fans are only having an opinion on what they are seeing on the pitch. 1
