I think Alves's parents would want him to finish school before he's sent away on loan.

I just think Alves is too young to go on loan. Better he be around the first team a bit and then send him out if he doesn't break through.

....without being the proverbial party pooper, is Alves getting time in the first eleven pushing him too quickly!!!

He is now in the U23s and has had a good season, although you can see shortcomings in his game and you wonder if he should just settle in the U23s before taking the next step. Having tasted first team football, it is not going to be easy dropping back to Premier League 2, as that could feel as if he has failed.

Premier League 2 for the coming season with occasional cameos from the bench in cup games.

Good point, no rush.

I'll trust Brendan on this one anyway, he's had Sterling and Tierney at similar ages and put them in and they excelled. If he thinks Alves is good enough them he'll not be afraid to use him. I think it will take a significant step up though, needs a big pre-season which you wouldn't put it past him.

I know everyone goes on about Brendan having a history of playing youngsters but here it seems like he’s only really played them when he’s had no other option through injuries etc . I was really surprised he didn’t have any on the bench the last few matches when there was nothing  to really play for . Some will say well he wanted to finish higher up the table but if a couple of youngsters were on the bench and we were ahead he could have given a couple some match time to gain experience.

He could definitely be better at blooding them, but he's also by no means the worst.

Definitely not the worst , just found it frustrating the last few matches . Also in some matches when they were on the bench but never got a sniff .

Michael Duff has left Cheltenham to become the new Barnsley manager.

Hopefully Callum can get a loan to the Championship but I would image Duff will go all out to get him on loan again.

Luton Town are actively looking for midfielders, so sending Wright there after what Nathan Jones did with KDH seems a smart move.

Preferably though, Wright blows everyone away in pre-season, the same way KDH did and we save us 25m on a new CM

Assuming Youri gets a transfer out we have KDH and Maddison in non defensive midfield. You’d imagine he’d get a championship loan but there’s space in our midfield—and I can imagine Maddison going for big money at some point.

Picture the scene...we're winning 2-0 at home to Fulham, they haven't mustered a shot on target. Rodgers uses his last 2 subs on the 75th minute...Maddison and Barnes coming off.. here comes Alves....what wait a minute no... he's bringing on Vestergaard and Mendy.

We draw 2-2.

Is he even eligible for match day squads? Too old now isn’t he and not registered. Seems a waste. Maybe they are now looking to ship off?

We don't have to register the squad until after the transfer window so he would be fine at the moment

Apparently we have offered him a new deal, if he accepts he will then be loaned out, if not he will be sold

Maybe I'm mad but I'd give him an opportunity here and now. He's got something about him.

Agreed. Goalscoring midfielders are worth the punt
