Super_horns Posted 16 November 2025 Posted 16 November 2025 Italy are going to face another play-off. Surely aren't likely to miss a third world cup in a row? Be quite interesting to see how Norway do with all their attacking talent - I mean Haaland will be favourite for the Golden Boot probably.
RowlattsFox Posted 16 November 2025 Posted 16 November 2025 I know they were through anyway but that is some win by Norway. Italy should be OK in the play offs, lots of average looking teams in there but you never know.
JonnyZeroFox Posted 16 November 2025 Posted 16 November 2025 Without question Norway will be very dangerous in anyone’s group, look superb… it was coming though with the attacking talent they have
Tielemans63 Posted 16 November 2025 Posted 16 November 2025 Agree with the comments above. Absolutely no one is going to want to draw Norway. Can see them going deep into the tournament. 1

Alf Bentley Posted 16 November 2025 Posted 16 November 2025 DR Congo join Bolivia and New Caledonia (plus 3) in the Inter-Continental Playoffs.....Nigeria join Cameroon in the bin.

Too many players that think they are better than each other.

Yes big disappointment for the latter two. From the BBC: DR Congo held their nerve in a compelling shootout to join Bolivia and New Caledonia at the six-team inter-confederation tournament which will provide the final two qualifiers for next year's World Cup. The winner of the second leg of the Asian play-off between Iraq and the United Arab Emirates and the best two third-ranked finishers from the third round of Concacaf qualifying will complete the field. 11 minutes ago, Jattdogg said: Jinx! Blue ROI Posted 17 November 2025 Posted 17 November 2025 (edited) What a magnificent 4 days for Ireland. I'd say the best days in well over a decade. And not just our typical plucky 1-1 or 1-0 result. We went for it. I can't remember a time we scored 3 goals against half decent opposition. No one would have predicted this after Armenia. It would be hard to top Northern Ireland in 93 or Holland in 01 but yesterday is right up there. Qualification will be tough but something of a blueprint now for us going forward one would hope. Oh and would the powers that be in Leicester ever look to someone like Heimar Hallgrimsson to try and get us going rather than someone with promises of Pep ball. Edited 17 November 2025 by Blue ROI
Leicesterpool Posted 17 November 2025 Posted 17 November 2025 Nightmares of Scotland beating Denmark tomorrow night and qualifying hope Kasper can pull of some worldies tomorrow.

I'd like to see the Scots, Irish and Welsh all qualify, via playoffs if need be, though I don't think that'll happen. We're all brothers and sisters on these islands, aren't we? 2

Imagine they qualify and we draw them. Friday night 1am kick off UK time. Would be absolutely unbelievable.

Yes, which means we cheer against each other's team. I love Scotland as a country, in some ways more than England, but I hope they get smashed 6-0 every time they play, and quite rightly they feel the same about us. 1
RowlattsFox Posted 18 November 2025 Posted 18 November 2025 I think Scotland will do it, which will make it funnier if they don't. The extended amount of groups have certainly helped and I think Ireland, Scotland and Wales would be disappointed if they didn't finish at least 2nd.

In Scandinavia we tend to support our Nordic cousins, particularly if our own countries aren't in the competition, i.e. I rooted for Norway and Sweden at the '94 World Cup. Isn't that normal for the British countries?

shen Posted 18 November 2025 Posted 18 November 2025 Vestergaard dropped for tonight's game. Might have a decent chance at getting over the line now!

Express a "genuine" desire for Scotland to do well. Scots won't know if you're just being patronising to a small nation, so it will mess with their heads. (Though I genuinely do want them to qualify and do well - within reason - despite being amused at the misery when they don't....)
