I know this is a big ask but can we not attack each other and instead sit back and try to enjoy the start of the season and the exciting transfer window? Hmm?

If we have a civil war then they'll be no waiting list for a season ticket

Some of you overestimate the revenue coming from playing in Europe especially in Europa and Conference League. Champions League is the proper beast at this. Again, talking with IFs ofc, do you think two consecutive appearances in CL (the ones we missed) would have drastically changed the planning of our board? I very much doubt it. Wages would be even higher, there's no guarantee top players would have joined us and most probably players like Madisson and Fofana would have been already lost to Barca, ManCity etc.

Under the current football status quo in Europe teams like ours are in a lose/lose situation unfortunately.

Sure it will, there's always a cost. Like not finishing in a CL spot also cost us. It's not as dire as some are making out though. We at least have quality, sellable assets in our current squad. If we choose to, we can raise massive capital to reinvest in the squad. It's up to the board and management.

I guess my point is that it’s difficult to to retain established premier league starts when you have nothing to offer them. It’s possibly effected our ability to sign players too like the Belgian… so im simply saying it was ok for people to be upset we finished 8th. People were implying it wasn’t. In the context of the Pleat years 8th is great lol but when you’ve had a taste of European football everyone wants more of it.. players too.

It was the two occasions that we snatched defeat from the jaws of CL qualification victory that have cost us.  We would be in a completely different position if we had just managed to limp over the line

I think that 8th last season wasn't bad considering we spent the entire season with an injury crisis.

but we still had other European competitions we’ve played in

On the plus side, no Europe next year might be a positive for us, to give us a break from the treadmill of twice weekly matched and ironically, help us to qualify for Europe next year.

which will be more difficult to do without some starrs who are being linked with moves..

When our finances became dependant on it.

Yep - building a state of the art training facility and planning to expand the stadium and surrounding areas comes with financial commitments and with those financial commitments comes an expectation of consistent revenue. The reality now is as a club we need to compete in and around the European spaces each season just so the club can pay for the off the field infrastructure.

Or we could be in a worse position. We might have overspent on reinforcements, given players pay raises, and then finished fourth in our group, which isn't a lot of money, comparatively. It would have been demoralising and we would be stuck where we are now, but with an even larger wage bill and even more bloated squad.

I mean, if we are going to play "What If"

Have we sold them yet?

Well, Kasper for one.

sounds like we will  for the others if we get the right offers lol

and , for someone like maddison I doubt we will let him run down his contract, so I’m sure we are at least considering it too if he’s indicating he won’t sign an extension..

Well, now we are experiencing a massive major side effect of having no European football.. top players are leaving and the vultures are circling for the rest…

Have i missed something?

I thought the only person who is leaving of any significance thus far is Schmeichel and he would likely have gone whether we had Europe or not?

There's always teams circling our players - That's a compliment to the quality of some of our squad.

People flap so much on here, even more than ever this season it seems.

The investment in the facilities you've mentioned were well thought by businessmen to make our club more attractive to young players while the owners know first hand there's no way top players will join our team even if we win back to back the PL.

It has also been reported that if we do sell one, we won’t sell the others

So far there has been no indication that Madders is going to run his contract down or won’t sign an extension

You can’t just look at everything and assume the worst outcome is definitely the case

IF we did sell them all you are also looking at probably close to £200m for us to spend on replacements

Who??

Kasper who we all knew before we had finished last season and didn’t know if we’d be in Europe or not when he said he wanted to go and have a new challenge?

Maddison - who is linked to a team who are also not in Europe.

Youri - who again openly wanted to go before he knew if we’d be in Europe or not.

Fofana - one of the best young talents around who was always going to be linked with the big boys.

Dont forget even when we were in the Champions League Kante left for Chelsea, Vardy was close to joining Arsenal and Mahrez wanted out…

How many times have we inevitably been through this process, yet some fans like yourselves can’t seem to accept the fact how our cycle works.

Kasper was always going to leave whether it be this summer or next summer, all you needed to do was look at his contract situation to know the writing was on the wall.

Then comes the inevitability of losing the likes of Fofana & Maddison, we’ve seen that process with Mahrez, Maguire & Chilwell, fans should know how this works by now. We have no reason to sell Fofana & Maddison, but if a ridiculous substantial bid comes in for either of them, whether it be this summer or next summer, then unsurprisingly they’ll probably be off.

This is the Leicester City cycle that will forever continue, it’s been like that since 2016, how the hell are some fans not used to it by now.

It's got nothing to do with not playing in Europe.

Any good player leaves Leicester City for a bigger club, it's how it goes. Just like we can take the best players from football league clubs and Barca/Real Madrid take the best players from Liverpool/Man Utd.

I don't think it's that black and white. The non qualification plays a part in our lack of budget and signings, but a slightly bigger factor may be the money being thrown away on the current squad and historical poor signings.

Because some of our fans have the delusion players like Lewandowski, Haaland etc will join us even if we win 4 times in a row the PL or finish every year in a CL spot. They won't and this is the sad truth. Even a player that suffered a heart attack wouldn't join us.

And how about this ecxact same thing happening almost every year for the last 5/6 years, including when we finished 5th twice? In fact, last year was the only year in our "recent post PL win" history where we didn't sell a key player.

True, but it's also true that we now face a period of reduced income due to inflation and lack of flights & duty free potentially, we now have less power to hang on to said players who rightly would believe they are good enough to be winning things consistently. Upto this point we have been able to provide a stream of trophies/European campaigns for the last few seasons, but now it's crunch time, and players like Maddison will want to move on (I would guess) if we have a flat season and can't offer anything.
