He’s the opposite of Coady in terms of leadership but in terms of natural ability, Coady is no way near as good as Evans but age, injury and others said an ability to be fit for NI but then miss months of football for us means it should be a thanks for everything post about Evans from the club.

I think most of us have appreciated that Evans is a top quality defender. Unfortunately, every sentence regarding that quality now includes the caveat "when he's fit". And we can't afford any passengers now. Both financially and on the pitch. We need players we can be naming every week.

Agree with this.

For me, Evans is a Rolls Royce of a defender. Very rarely making last ditch challenges etc because his positioning and reading the game is so good. Unfortunately time has caught up with him and unless it was a pay as you play deal it’s just not worth having him on the books.

He is the reason we got so much got Maguire & Fofona in my opinion. He makes players around him look better. If he goes and signs for one of the promoted teams I’d genuinely hope he regains his fitness and wish him the best. If he did that I’d be thinking I wish he stayed but it’s just too much of a gamble.

Evans hasn't been able to comfortably get through 90 minutes for at least 18 months. Any time you see him do 5/10 mins of intense sprinting when we're under the cosh, he is hobbling about for the following 15.

He was a brilliant defender and has had a great career, but he was a pathetic captain. We'd be mad to offer him wages of anything near what he was supposedly on before.

Technically a day left of his contract.

Of course he's going to leave lol

Can't think of any player recently that has signed a deal (not that I want him to) with that little left on his contract. Probably holding out for a PL club.

Excellent player with recurring injury issues, p155ed me off somewhat that he always seemed to be fit enough for the glory of another international cap within periods of not playing for us through injury.

Would like to see him gone now and replaced with a fit younger player, it don't matter how good you are when out injured.

Dare I say the club have actually played this one quite well? Keep negotiations with Evans open while we get Coady in. Now it looks as though we have Coady in, our position in the Evans negotiations is stronger. We can offer him a contract that is highly beneficial to us i.e. a short contract with a greatly reduced salary or we just simply let him go.

Didn't Nugent have a month by month one before he signed a new deal?

Good news. A knackered, soft club "captain" shouldn't be rewarded with a new deal after a disastrous relegation even if it does mean a huge paycut.

With so many injuries, he has to go, an expensive liability.

The club tweeted ‘blue, through and through’ this morning without any photo

they subsequently deleted this tweet

that can’t refer to a signing - surely it would have to be a renewal …… or a return ……

Vards won’t be signing beyond his existing deal next summer (although the club would be well happy if he took on a three year deal at 20k/week to replace what he’s on now !)

Has he gone? Can’t see it’s been announced anywhere.

Lats we heard from Tanner was that both parties were in discussions about a possible new deal

tbh, given that his recent injury record is so poor, I wonder just who would take him on

If Vardy scores for fun this season and gets back to his old self how do you know he won't sign another contract, even if it's a year extension for another pop at the Premier League?

He’s not been a bad signing but his time is over. I hope we let home go, there has been a few positive changes this week at the club so I’m hoping we let him go and get Coady in.

Not even when he's fit, the issue is that he is fit but lacks commitment and will try to preserve himself for international games. 121 league games for us in 5 years, 32 appearances for northern Ireland in the same time frame.

Evans' body looks like it's given up on football which is a pretty fundamental part of playing the game! I can see him being a pundit on Sky Sports in 2026 looking like a great grandad and we'll be thinking "how the hell was he playing  pro football only 3 years a go"

For a so called leader and senior defender, the shambles of a defence was under his watch.  In the end he was nothing but a Rodger’s yes man.

Club needs to move on as he will be an absolute waste of wages this season.

He would have renewed his contract by now if he really wanted to stay.

Maybe if we changed our name to Northern Ireland he might be interested, best for us to just get rid.

I see Evans at Celtic, in a player/Kolo role - whatever that was exactly.
