maybe they’re confident they can get 25-30 games out of him?

Which would be the final confirmation that they are utterly ****ing bonkers.

Don't see Enzo tolerating soft players, Evans has a decision to make. I don't think he'll get anywhere better but the easy ride is finishing.

It’s Evans apparent lack of influence that makes me annoyed the club have offered him this deal.

Enzo’s appointment will go either way but his comment on the players that stay need a mentality shift surely starts with your passive captain.

They haven't offered any deal. The club mentioned 'discussions' but at the time i read this that  the club couldn't wait to say goodbye to the other 6 players.  What i am willing to accept with Jonny is that i believe he has aspirations beyond playing and maybe with his experience and coaching aspirations there is a deal to be had there. But for this to work for the club its going to have to be a million miles away from the reported £100k a week he was on, and if Jonny believes he still has something to offer in the game his agent is going to be pushing for a good deal.  This is why all the rose tinted 'we were better with him in the team' stuff needs to be thrown out of the window. Any deal needs to take the last 18 months into consideration, where he has barely played, been really poor when he has, and failed as captain.

Yeah what's your point, Evans has been just as bad when he's actually been fit, especially when you factor in the previous levels he was at.

I think people are still rating Evans based on 2021 to be fair mate.

Did we look better the last couple of games with him in? Potentially but that’s because Smith also didn’t play suicidal football (Fulham away without a DM)

Presumed this was largely agent talk. Will believe it when the club announce a pay by play contract firmly in our favour and not one that lines the pocket of a sick note.

...when interviewed after the last game of the season (Radio Leicester) and asked if he would like to stay on, he was non-committal and stated that his agent was talking to the club about a contract!!!

It would have been excellent as the club captain to have said he would be delighted to continue and bring the club back to the Premiership, but it didn't happen. I really believe he and a few of the players saw our relegation as karma for letting Rodgers go.

Point is when fit he is miles better than anyone else we have. We are hopefully going to build a young squad, but need some experience around them. The same as when we kept Fuchs and Morgan on, when they were not going to play much.

Obviously if he wants the same deal then it would have to be appearance based.Be a disaster to lose all of our experienced players

Also, Soyuncu and Amartey have left, and Vestergaard is likely to follow.

Is he? Who will take him if he isn't willing to take a cut to the ludicrous wages he was given here.

We might be stuck with him until his contract runs out in 2024.

I hope the club gets rid of anybody who is not committed. There seems to be a group at the club who have been unsettled for a while now and this has been reflected on the pitch. It's a long time since we looked as if we were playing as a team, working for each other, showing commitment and determination. Much of the time we looked unfit and bore a couldn't care less "we are too good to be relegated" attitude.

I am hoping Maresca stamps this out straight away and if there is anybody who doesn't want to buy into his regime then they can go, shut the door on your way out. Personally I am fed up of watching these half-arsed performances from players who can do much better, players who are current internationals. Seagrave hasn't made the team any better than it was at Belvoir Drive despite its wonderful facilities and our injury list has never been worse.

I also have grave misgivings about Sadler and Stowell, coaches whose job it is to motivate and sort out the problems. Why have they been so ineffectual - too easy going, restricted by Rodgers' philosophy of turgid, tippy-tappy football around the back four because they didn't know what else to do with it?

Hopefully this is the dawn of a new era inspired by young, hungry lads with talent who will be fit as butchers' dogs and fully committed to energetic, exciting football. Moreover they will be proud to put on the LCFC shirt. Achieve that and the rest will follow.

He has already had a 30-50% pay cut on relegation, so should be easier now.

When was the last time Evans was any good?

We need to pull this deal now, he’s treating us as a backstop, does anyone actually want him here next season clogging up the treatment room, he doesn’t even strike me as a leader either after that pathetic instagram post

We needed a galvanising leader last season. Where was Evans?  Ooh, I’m injured. Didn’t realise his mouth AND spirit were injured too. Yes he’s a good defender when fit, but it’s time to say goodbye. No spine.

Last game he played

Those couple of games at the end, Newcastle and West Ham, reminded me of how good he is.

But, he's too unreliable and tend to agree with others, he doesn't appear to be a galvanising leader (in fact,.I'm sure I recall Danny Simpson laughing about how much Evans moans on the pitch. Vocal doesn't always equate to leadership)

This has to be a Joke. He has nothing to offer us on the pitch now which is where we need a leader.

Enzo needs to go out and pick his own leader like Pearson done with Morgan.

We need to move on from the old brigade.

Agree with this, he needs to be moved on, really good in his day, but injuries are frequent, I fail too see what he will bring to the party, other than keeping the medical team and physios busy.

Think it’s just a heel problem, his back works ok

Anyone know what’s going on with Evans - is he still mulling over the contract offer?

Where does that leaves us/him ahead of pre season starting on Monday? Hopefully he’s rejected it/we’ve withdrawn it (unlikely).

It seems strange we’re now bringing Coady in, surely we don’t got into the season with both Coady and Evans in the squad.

Tanner reckons he’s likely to leave now.

Also seemed like Lazarus from the dead when Ireland came calling. Thanks, but time to go. What is there in the last two years to vaguely even suggest that he might stay fit for even half of our games? Therefore why pay him a bundle of money? He's had his chances.

When fit, he's been great for us, he even made Maguire look decent in that centre back pairing.

However hes had too many sicknotes, wages are huge, and the Championship is grittier than the PL so more potential injury concerns around Evans along with Justin, Ricardo etc in physically tough league.

Always respected him until he came out with the 'lads gave everything' comment v Liverpool.  Money better spent elsewhere.
