Sky Sports on LCFC

Sky  Sports has a lot negative  news coverage on Leicester City there is only one live game on sky sport and other every live game is so call the big six and other clubs. I feel sky sport what see Leicester go the way of Norwich last season.

They've always focussed on those clubs at the expense of the rest, even their showings of old games and individual player profiles are from the those clubs but then because they show them more they have more of them to show.

 

Their review of our winning seasons shows very little of our involvement because we were rarely shown through out the season

All doesn't appear as stable and well as it has in the past, we are not performing as well as we have in recent times. All media outlets are running with that as 'news'. They do it for all teams, if there is a glimmer of a rumour or story. Club X are fine, isn't going to get any headlines, is it?!

Used to get some decent coverage under Gary Newbon on his own shows many years ago (who supports the club).

Are any of you subscribed to a channel that shows all the 3pm KO’s? Must be an American or Canadian channel or something, if so how much? Can’t cope with struggling for streams.

They're making it harder to do, you usually need a valid bank/credit card issued by the country the channel is based in now.

Sadly, I succumbed with the occasional 24-hour Sky pass during the Covid season mainly as it was cheaper than going down the pub with my lad. I found the coverage unwatchable and on occasions offensive. Just that peak into the world of Sky Sports was enough for me not to subscribe. 

 

I did have BT Sport that got lumped into my broadband package but I ditched that as soon as the contract ended.

They cater to the most popular teams because they're a business, bums on seats etc. It's not personal.  Other clubs get even less attention.

I gave up with Sky ages ago... Lots of good IPTV options if you look around.  Although nowhere showed Stockport game (which I'm glad I didn't see).

Bet you wouldn't have started this thread when they were jacking all over us in 2015/16, or when we were doing well in 2016/17 and the good runs of 19/20 and 20/21.

 

It's almost as if they adapt their narrative based on how a team is doing. I'll never stop saying it, if you want 100% positive coverage of the club, watch LCFC TV and get your fill. Otherwise accept that at times the club will be reported or speculated on negatively.

It's so unreasonable for the media to be suggesting we're in a bad place at the moment. If only they'd take the time to look at the fans' message boards, they'd see how optimistic and positive about the future we all are...

Sky don't hate Leicester they just don't really care about Leicester, Sky are interested in market share and that means pandering to the majority who are fans of the big six. 

 

What's interesting is watching BT and Sky carve up the UK supporter base between them in a sort of strange equivalent to news media companies picking a spot on the political spectrum to appeal to. 

 

Very much feels like Sky is Man Utd TV and BT is Liverpool TV.

To be fair, Sky did give a lot of credit to Leicester when we won the league, and when we finished 5th up until recently. It's swings and roundabouts. They need to fill their social media and channels with stuff - so they have to exacerbate and focus on things to do that - their business model is based on that. They do that with most clubs. They're very focused on Man U right now - they can bash out dozens of stories, youtuve clips and social media posts on just one issue and various opinions.

Less live games = more 3pm KO on Saturday which is great, the football on show is not unfortunately.
