IF this lad was on Southampton’s list then it could be awkward for us to move for him 

 

if we could prove that we had  previously spoken to Rennes or his agent about availability then we’d probably be ok

Even if they spend £200m on fees, that’s only £40/50m per season on their accounts 

 

wages must be a bigger concern but the 11 players they had there would have been on v low wages around 20/25k max. 
 

if the 20 new players are averaging 60k then that’s going to be a wage bill well below £100m. 
 

they’re not in any trouble unless they get relegated and even then, they have bought plenty of players who are v saleable

They won’t get relegated I don’t think, hate to say it but apart from last night they have looked pretty good. I would expect they finish clear of us 😭

They've signed plenty of midfielders and attackers, their defence is still leaky.

We will know where we're at by lunchtime. In all the transfer windows in the last decade, we've never randomly signed or gone for a player in the last half a day. Only Nathan Dyer and Alexander Dragovic were we suddenly on the verge of signing on deadline day but they were reported in the morning. Even Soyuncu's surprise transfer when we all thought it was Benkovic and Chris Mepham was reported by journos late the night before.
